A. Procedure Text
According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), the word procedure itself
means the stage of activity to complete an activity. The definition of procedural text is
a text that contains ways, goals to make or do something step by step in the right
sequence so as to produce something you want.
The characteristics of the text of the procedure type :
 Using imperative sentences
 Contains Guide
 Using Active Verbs
 Using Conjunctions
 There Are Special Rules
 There is a Sequence of Activities
Example of Procedure Text
How to Cook Instant Noodles
Instant noodles are one of the foods that can help when you are hungry quickly.
Besides that, the taste is also very delicious. Here's how to make instant noodles that
are good and right;
1. Boil noodles with water until cooked
2. While waiting for the noodles to cook, put the spices and oil into the bowl
3. Once cooked, pour the noodles and gravy into a bowl. Mix well.
Noodles are ready to be served.
B. Exsposen Text
Expository text is an informational or knowledge essay in a concise, clear, concise,
and interesting way to read.
Expository Text Features:
-Explain information or knowledge on a particular topic
-Usually answer the questions what, who, when, where, why, how
-Form of writing that is straightforward, concise, concise, and clear
-Writing contains facts
-Using standard language
-It is neutral and objective, meaning it does not take sides or impose the author's will
on the reader.
Example Exposen Text
Thesis:
Cleanliness is one part of maintaining health. A clean environment will enable a
healthy lifestyle. Especially if we talk about the school environment. A place where
the younger generation is educated. Of course the school environment is clean. Can
increase student enthusiasm for learning.
Every student should be invited to participate in cleaning the school. With them
participate. This means that the school also fosters a sense of cleanliness from
students. This has an impact on their lives outside of school. For example, at home,
students will get used to making their house clean.
Argument:
 What is the right way to practice cleanliness for students. It's not easy to invite their
role. We as teachers need to develop wise methods. During the era of the 90s we were
familiar with pickets. Each student gets a schedule to clean up their class.
This method trains them to be responsible. A student is required to arrive early. But
they only get it once a week. So it doesn't bother them. This kind of activity will raise
awareness of cleanliness. Students are invited to participate directly.
There are also media announcements and punishments for those who litter. In the
school environment, always provide trash bins. Every student should throw garbage in
its place.
Another method is to invite food vendors at school. Do not provide plastic as a food
container. This method inevitably reduces the consumption of plastic waste. This
method also invites participation not only students. But also invite people around the
school to maintain cleanliness.
Reorientation:
School as a place of education. It should have a clean environment. Cleanliness is not
only obtained from school cleaners. But it is necessary to invite the participation of
students. This step can grow a clean soul within them. And increase the sense of
responsibility and love of cleanliness.
C. Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts
a. Fiction Text
Fictional story text is a literary work that contains fictional stories or
based on imagination-based "fantasy" that is not based on actual events, but only
relies on the imagination of the author's factual experience. The author's
imagination is processed on the basis of his evaluation of various experiences,
insights, views, interpretations, knowledge, reality and purely fictitious events.
Characteristics of Fictional Stories
Based on practice, fictional stories have their own characteristics and
characteristics as literary works, as follows:
 Characteristic of the imagination of various authors
 There is no relative or absolute truth value. In general, the language used is
suggestive
 There is no standard classification
 In general, this fictional story tells about the feelings of the reader, not logical
values but emotions
 Each story has a moral message, namely a specific mission

Chased by Dogs
 Anton, Doni and Budi are 3 friends who often spend their afternoons playing
bicycles. They are always traveling and trying new places to explore. If the term
is called Doni, this is called adventure, for example, like the one on television.

One afternoon, they were frantically trying to find a new route they wanted to
explore. The reason is, they have entered all the alleys and complex routes near
their homes. Budi also provides new perspectives for exploring the factory
complex located outside the residential complex. At first, Doni didn't approve of
Budi's new view because his mother always advised him not to go too far from
the complex of change.

But with the approval of Anton and Budi, Doni was finally forced to join. They
cycled happily and felt challenged because it was the first time they had played
outside their compound and had gone quite far. As they were about to enter the
factory complex, suddenly they heard a very loud dog barking. They stopped and
saw that there was a dog whose neck was not tied behind a tree.

Apparently this dog is a dog kept near the factory to protect the factory on
Sundays. Anton, Doni and Budi rushed to pedal their bicycles as hard as they
could because the dog had run after them. The three of them screamed for help
and pedaled as fast as they could. Until they reached the area of their changing
complex, fortunately the dog was no longer chasing them. Doni also regretted not
obeying his mother's orders.
b. Non-Fiction Texts
Non-fiction text is an essay made based on things that really happen in
everyday life or can also be called facts. Nonfiction is an essay in the form of a
true story or everyday life story that is written into a story.
The following features of nonfiction text:
 The language used is standard or formal language. This is the most visible
feature. Nonfiction text uses language properly and correctly.
 Using denotative or actual meaningful words. Writers who write non-fiction
texts use denotative words with the aim of providing information to the
reader.
 It is factual and can be proven true. The next feature is that non-fiction text
is factual. The author writes non-fiction texts using data obtained from the
field so that his writing can be verified.
Example
Corona virus COVID-19

The Corona COVID-19 virus has officially been declared a global pandemic.
This virus that attacks the human respiratory tract at the end of 2019 appeared in
Wuhan, China. And now it has spread to all countries in the world, including
Indonesia. Various kinds of defense have also been carried out by various
countries to fight this pandemic.
Several countries have implemented lockdowns, social distancing, isolation
and quarantine as an effort to keep the Corona COVID-19 virus in a confined
space and able to slow down the spread rate.
 When compared to other viruses, namely the SARS and MERS viruses, the
SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19 virus is far more deadly in its transmission process.
The symptoms that appear are also difficult to recognize, even those who have a
fever, cough, runny nose are not necessarily infected. But it could be that those
who have no symptoms are already infected. This means that people who are
already infected will more often infect others before they even know they are
infected.
The Corona COVID-19 virus does not look at age in the process of
transmission, young and old alike still have a high probability of being infected
with the COVID-19 virus. And so far no vaccine has been found for the Corona
COVID-19 virus. Even though the government has prepared Avigan and
Chloroquine drugs in large quantities for the healing process. As for prevention,
you can start from yourself, such as increasing the body's immune system.
D. Report Text
Report text is a series of paragraphs that explain an object. As with other types
of writing, report text also has a purpose for its readers.
Following are the characteristics:
Report text contains scientific facts.
The title of the report text looks general (easily recognized by readers who do not
have competence in the science of the report text topic).
Usually accompanied by pictures and statistical data to prove the results of the
author's observations.
 Report text sentences use the simple present tense sentence pattern.
 Report text uses common nouns as in language feature general nouns.
 Using verbs that are interconnected, in accordance with the language features,
namely linking verbs or relative verbs.
 Report text consists of an object and added with other objects.
 Report text describes various kinds of groups and not individuals in particular.
 Report text uses conditional logical conjunctions, for example so, when, and so on.
Example
Media creates, modifies, informs, and delivers products to viewers. They can be in
form of news, weather reports, TV shows, musics, films, even communication
channels such as phone calls and social medias.

The main purpose of the media is to earn some money by creating advertisement of
some the products and services.
