“ALIKE” – An Activity On Communication (Online Sessions)

1. What is the main message of the video?

The main message of the video is telling us that we should not lose our creativity and imagination
because of society. We should embrace our creativity and not suppress it.

2. Briefly write a short summary of what you think happens in the story.

There is a father that appears to be happy and loves the way his son enjoys the world around him.
However, he doesn't seem as happy as his son. The father's color fades every time he works. In this way,
he becomes part of the mass of people with whom he works. He is emotionless and looks more like a
robot. After a long, tiring day, he uses his son to restore his color. As the days pass, the son becomes less
energetic and sad, as well as fading. His father notices when he doesn't return to his original color.
Therefore, he takes his son to see the violinist, making him excited. Upon reaching the spot, the violinist
was not there, and his son turned to leave. When he turns around he sees his father standing in the
middle of the park playing an imaginary violin. It brought his color back and made him smile.

3. Write 3 communication points or observations that were shown in the story (for example the
colors used in the animation – how did it show a message or how the changes in actions of the
characters show their thoughts)

Colors of the characters – the colors of the characters show their emotions or their state of mind. If they
have color, that means they are happy. Colorless means they are sad and numb.

Actions of the characters – the kid was full of energy and enthusiasm when he had a bright color. When
his color faded he looked tired and unmotivated.

The child’s drawings – his drawings that have colors symbolize his creativity.
