ID: G00384554

Subject: Wood Technology Topic(s): Mug Stand Project

Pupil Year Group: 2nd years No. of Pupils: 24
Lesson Number: 14 Length of lesson: 60 minutes
Date: 20/01/2022 Time of Lesson: 9:00-10:00

1. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & AND OSERVATIONS

Previous Knowledge: Students have some knowledge of woodworking joints, the tools being used in
the wood technology room, and of the timber being used in the room. Students are completing a CBA
currently on wood science in their environment, so some students have a better knowledge of the
materials we are using based on their research.

Previous Skills: Students have been trained in the used of the hand tools and some machinery in the
room. The students have been trained in the use of marking tools and in the correct method of
marking timber. Students have been trained in health and safety in the room and are aware of how to
manage themselves properly in the wood technology room.

Teacher Observation: Some students in the class are very capable when it comes to the marking out
and tool use while others are not as capable and so students need to have demonstrations to keep
them on track, working safely and efficiently. Students are quite eager to work and appear to enjoy
the making and like to add their own twist to the project. Some students are using the lathes to add
their own twist to the project while others are more content with doing the more basic design.

2. LESSON RATIONALE
