Education Curriculum in the Philippines and its Goals

Activity No. 1
1. What are your thoughts about the MATATAG Curriculum? Discuss some
highlights of the curriculum that you find most beneficial not only to the learners
but also to the teachers. On the other hand, discuss its probable shortcomings that
can generally impact the country’s educational system.

MATATAG is a great help to be a job-ready, active and responsible

learner. And we don’t need to discuss all the competencies because they are merge all important
or relevant related topics competencies resulted to more fine and reduction in number and more
time allotment on honing foundational skills of our learners. Give support to teacher to teach
better and more focused.

One of the highlights of MATATAG curriculum is they revised the

old or outdated. Because it’s the problem here in the Philippines we are using the “outdated” as I
mentioned earlier. In our old curriculum we almost have 11,738 competencies to reduced and
compressed 3, 664 in all. There’s no other way but to innovate as education continually changes.
