Week No. 2 Day 6 Duration 1 HOUR

PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learners should be able to employ appropriate techniques using the compound
microscope to gather data about very small objects.
I.OBJECTIVE/S: Focus specimens using the compound microscope.
Week 2 S7LT-IIb-2
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic Using the Compound Microscope
b. References:
 MELC, p. 385
 CO_Q2_Science 7_Module 2
c. Materials: Learning modules, illustrations, chalk, laptop, video
d. Subject Integration: English, Mathematics
e. Values Integration: Appreciation of microorganisms seen under microscope
III.PROCEDURE
A. Priming Activities: Begin with classroom routine:
a. Prayer
b. Reminder of the classroom health and safety protocols
c. Checking of Attendance
d. Quick “kumustahan”

1. Review The students will answer the pretest found in the module.

2. Motivation:  The learners will recall through unscrambling letters and identifying the
words being described.
B. Lesson Proper:
 Activity: Since there is no available microscope in the school, the students will watch the
video and will share what they observed in the video.

 Analysis: Guide Questions:

 Did the letter appear in the same orientation when viewed through the
microscope?
 When you move the slide to the right what direction does it appear to
move under the microscope?
 What happened to the image when you switched objectives?

 Abstraction:  How do we focus a microscope?

 When the specimen is out of focus, which part of the microscope should
you turn to obtain a clearer image?
 After switching from low power to high power, what happens to the field
of view?
 Why is it important to start viewing from low power to high power
objectives?

 Application: In dedication for our front liners especially to hospital employees, the students
will write a thank you message for all of their hard works and sacrifices made in
this global health crisis, COVID 19 Pandemic.
IV.ASSESSMENT/ Directions: Read each item carefully. Write only the letter of the correct answer
EVALUATION: for each question.

1. Which focusing knob can be used with low power?

A. Diaphragm C. High power objective
B. Inclination Knob D. Coarse adjustment knob
2. How many objective lenses are there in a compound microscope?
A. 1 B. 3 C. 6 D. 12
3. Where should a specimen be positioned under a microscope under low power
to view it correctly?
A. Middle C. Left side
B. Bottom D. Right side

4. To focus a specimen, it is best to start with which objective:

A. Ocular C. Low power
B. Scanning D. High power
5. Which part of the microscope is used to sharpen the focus of the specimen?
A. Fine adjustment knob C. Low power objective lens
B. Coarse adjustment knob D. High power objective lens
V. On your science notebook, answer the question below:
AGREEMENT/ASSIGNMENT: What is magnification?
How do we obtain total magnification in viewing microscopes?
Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to
VI. REFLECTION help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant
question.

A. No. of learners who earned 80%

on the formative assessment
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lesson work?
No. of learner who caught up with
the lesson
D. No. of learner who continue to
require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies
worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter
which my principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/ discover which
I wish to share with other teachers?
