Grade & Section Topic Microscopy

I: OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding of the parts and function of the
A. Content Standards
compound microscope.
B. Performance The learner should be able to employ appropriate techniques using the
Standards compound microscope to gather data about very small objects.
C. Learning The learners should be able to identify parts of the microscope and their
Competencies functions.

D. Specific Learning Explain the general function of a microscope.

Objectives Identify the parts of a microscope.
II: CONTENT
Topic Microscopy
The microscope is a tool which can help you see tiny objects and living
organisms. It makes them look bigger. This ability of the microscope is
called its magnifying power or magnification. The microscope also has the
capacity to distinguish small gaps between two separate points which
humans cannot distinguish. It is called its resolving power or resolution.

Questions:
C. Establishing a purpose 1. How did you identify if the given organism is small or big in actual?
for the lesson 2. Are there smaller things aside from some of the pictures? Specify.
3. From the previous topic, can we see plant and animal cell using our
naked eye? Why?
4.What device or equipment is used in order to see smaller object such
as the cell?
EXPLORE
D. Discussing new concepts Activity: Take and Stick
and practicing new skills Group students into two, then let them choose 13 representatives from
#1 the group. Using an enlarge unlabelled model of a microscope, let the
representative take words (parts of microscope) from the choices, and let
them paste the word in their desired area in the unlabelled illustration of
microscope. Then check the student’s answers. 1. eyepiece or ocular
