THROUGH PRINTED MATERIALS

Part I: Situation/Scenario/Setting

Learning to read English words is one of the goals in going to school. Reading with
understanding is greatly recommended. To understand words is also its meaning and
function. Pupils who can use English language, enjoy their day to day activities.

Part II: Findings and Insights

The participants of this study will be the six (6) Grade II pupils of Mapulog Elementary
School. They represent the 29% of the total class population of twenty one (21) pupils. The
data were taken during the classroom observation conducted last March.
For two weeks, the researcher presented the lessons in a simple way or the traditional
manner. The use of textbooks and chalks were observed. Some pictures and tarpapels were
also used. The participants during these weeks have shown little interest or sometimes not
interested at all.
For the following two weeks, the researcher prepared printed materials and reading materials
in teaching by preparing colorful power point presentation with the complete animation and
sound effects. The use of projector was observed. The use of interactive video clips in
presenting the lesson was also seen. During this time, pupils displayed a change of
behaviour. The participants were seen interacting, asking questions and eager to read.

of Mapulog Elementary School of Naawan District SY 2022 – 2023 and to conduct

In order to complement the needs of the pupils, attractive printed materials should be given
and introduce to the pupils to catch their attention and interest in reading. Various context of
the reading materials should be given to them accompanied with unlocking of difficulties in
order for the pupils to understand the content of the reading text.
