Greetings of virtue
Dear Ibu Plt. Principal of Kejora Riung Catholic High School
Honourable ladies and gentlemen, teachers and staff of Kejora Riung Catholic High School
As well as my friends, students, the next generation of the nation that I love and am proud of.
Praise and gratitude should be given to God Almighty because thanks to His grace and love we
can all gather in this place in good health.
On this sunny morning, let me deliver my speech about Education is a Container for Forming
Agents of National Change. Hopefully what I say can encourage all of us, especially students, to
be more serious about education and explore knowledge.
Ladies and gentlemen that I honour,
Education is not just a process of transferring knowledge from educators to students. More than
that, education aims to improve human resources and create a smart generation. Education plays
an important role in the life of a nation and state because this is where the ideals and future of the
nation's next generation are placed.
We all know that education is the most important part of the life of a nation. Without education,
it is impossible for us to continue the life of the state, let alone maintain the dignity of the nation
in the eyes of the international community. A nation can be said to be developed if education in
the country is advanced and can manage human resources and natural resources well for the
welfare of its citizens. For this reason, various efforts have been made together by various parties
to advance education in Indonesia. However, equipping the younger generation with knowledge
is not enough to advance the life of the nation. They need to receive moral education that shapes
the next generation as individuals who are noble, honest, and responsible.
My honoured guests
Today, the Indonesian nation faces problems that are becoming more complex by the day. For
example, the problems of law, politics, education, economic disparity, and the social welfare of
the people are increasingly eroding the life of this nation.
Then, where have the youth gone? Where did they go when Indonesia needed their energy to
change this nation for the better?
Ladies and gentlemen
Many young people today choose not to know. They pretend not to see, closing their eyes and
ears. They are preoccupied with their own affairs regardless of what is happening around them.
In fact, there are many policies that need to be criticised by providing the right solutions to solve
them.
Therefore, my fellow students, whom I am proud of.
The above issues are our responsibility. We are the agents of change. It is on our shoulders that
the future of this nation is at stake. Let us explore knowledge as deeply as possible, get the best
education possible. Let us not break up in the middle of the road, because it is only through
education that our nation's problems are resolved.
Our role today is needed to form a harmonious and strong nation. With the current development
of technology and the freedom of speech that is increasingly upheld, we youth should be more
optimal in carrying out our role as agents of change.
My honoured guests,
Our first president, Mr Soekarno, once said "Give me 1000 parents and I will pull Semeru from
its roots. Give me 10 young people, and I will shake this world". He considers us young people
to be the pioneers of change in this nation. Let us slowly rise from our slump, rise from our
dependence on our pseudo-world, so that we can become agents of change for those around us,
especially agents of change for ourselves.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Before I end my speech, I would like to quote an old proverb that we students of today may not
have heard very often. "If there is a broken needle do not keep it in a chest, if there is a wrong
word do not keep it in your heart".
That's all and thank you.
Wassalamualaikum Wr. Wb..,
Shalom
Peace be upon us all,
om shanti shanti shanti om.
