6. PRESSURE TEST METHOD
6.1 General Guidelines
Prepare all related approval document required to perform work which is complete and
confirmed with approved document by consultant engineers including and not limited to
required submittals listed in specification which consist of shop drawing, material approval
request (MAR), confirmation of conformance between delivery material with approved
material (code/mode/type, length, weight, width, material, quantity, etc), confirmation of
conformance between temporary storage and vendor storage requirement/standard.

6.2 General Works for Perform Pressure Test

This section describes general instructions to be observed during installation fix sleeve
work. All equipment and tools shall be checked and make sure prior to doing installation
piping fuel system.
a. Preparation Test Location
- Clear and safe access to work areas,
- Construction of temporary stagging/scaffolding for access to work area and all
mechanical work,
- Ensure that during testing there is witnesses from the client/owner
b. Preparation of Test Material, Equipment, and Tools,
c. Perform Pressure Test :
- Storage tank pipe area
- Underground pipe area
- Pump room pipe area
- Vertical pipe area
- Roof top pipe area
d. Cleaning of work area (Housekeeping);
• Do work area cleaning (House Keeping) 30 minutes before working hours end
• Clean the work area of all work waste and place it in the space provided according to
the waste category.
• Clean all work tools from trash or damaging dust.
• Place and rearrange all work tools in the space provided and arrange them according
to their type.
• Ensure that no work tools are left in the field without coordination with the field
supervisor.

7. SCOPE OF WORK

7.1. Prepare drawing for installation of a piping fuel system,

The drawing was made before carrying out the piping fuel system installation work process. The
aim is to prepare drawings to be used as field technical references, so that they can be used as a
reference for perform pressure test.

7.2. Prepare the material to be installed,

Prepare material project to install piping fuel system, to determine the availability of
project requirements.

7.3. Application of perform pressure test

The pressure test is carried out with reference to ASME B31.1 (power piping). When carrying
out a pressure test in the storage tank pipe area, underground water pipes, pump room pipe area,
vertical pipe area, roof top pipe area, the work will include :
A. Make sure the fuel pipe installation to be tested is connected properly and correctly.
B. The test pressure should be 1.5 times the design pressure for pneumatic test.
C. Do not attempt to repair any leak while the system is pressurized. If any leaks are found,
relieve the test pressure and perform repairs.

6
D. Underground piping area, storage tank piping area, pump room area, vertical pipe area, roof
top piping area to be tested.
E. The testing method is pneumatic test using compressed air.
- The pressure test is carried out once with a pressure of 1.5x the pump capacity of
around 500 kPa (5 Bar).
- The pressure test was carried out for 15 minutes.
- Note : The pressure drop should not exceed 3%
F. The piping will be checked with soap and water solution to check for leakages.
G. If a pressure gauge indicated the pressure drop, the testing operations
connection and shut-off valve be first rechecked for leak and tightened as
necessary.
H. If a pressure drop is still evident, then all joints and lastly the piping itself
will be checked with soap and water solution.
I. Resolve all leaking points, and re-establishing testing as per step e.
J. Upon completion of testing period, inspection to be performed with all
relevant parties and sign off.
