Past Simple
Affirmative: Uso de verbos regulares

Subject + Verb (in past tense) + Complement

I worked in a hospital last year - Trabajé en un hospital el año pasado.

Aura painted a beautiful picture - Aura pintó un bonito cuadro.
My mother washed my clothes yesterday - Mi mamá lavó mi ropa el día de ayer..
Andres studied in a bilingual school - Andres estudio en una escuela bilingue.
Stephany and Roxana watched TV last night - Ellas vieron la TV la noche anterior.
Alex closed the window because he was cold. - Alex cerró la vetana porque tenia frio.

Negative:

Subject + Didn´t + Verb (in infinitive) + Complement

Affirmative Negative
I worked in a hospital last year. I didn´t work in a hospital last year.

I didn´t worked in a hospital last year. (x – incorrect)

I not worked in a hospital last year. (x – incorrect)
I didn´t work in a hospital last year. (ok - correct)

Examples / Ejemplos

Aura painted a beautiful picture - Aura didn´t paint a beautiful picture.

My mother washed my clothes yesterday - My mother didn´t wash my clothes yesterday.
Andres studied in a bilingual school - Andres didn´t study in a bilingual school.
Stephany and Roxana watched TV last night - Stephany and Roxana didn´t watch TV...
Alex closed the window because he was cold. - Alex didn´t close the window...

Interrogative

Did + Subject + Verb in infinitive + complement + ?

Auxiliar Did + Sujeto + Verbo en infinitivo + complemento + ?

Did I work in a hospital last year? ¿Trabajé en un hospital el año pasado?.

Para responder: Yes, I did No, I didn´t

Did I worked in a hospital last year? (x) – incorrect

Did I work in a hospital last year? (ok ) – correct

2/5
Examples – ejemplos.

Did Aura paint a beautiful picture? Yes, She did No, she didn´t
Did my mother wash my clothes yesterday? Yes, She did No, she didn´t
Did Andres study in a bilingual school? Yes, he did No, he didn´t
Did Stephany and Roxana watch TV...? Yes, they did No, they didn´t
Did Alex close the window...? Yes, he did No, hhe didn´t

B) Wh – questions – preguntas largas(abiertas) o preguntas con wh.

What..? ¿Qué…? Where…? ¿Dónde…? When…? ¿Cuándo…?

Why…? ¿Por qué…? Who…? ¿Quién…? How…? ¿Cómo…? , etc

Wh – Question + did + Subject + verb in Infinitive + Complement ?

Preguntas largas + auxiliar + Sujeto + verbo en infinivo + complemento ?
Preguntas con Wh

Where did I work last year? (correct) ¿Donde trabajé el año pasado?

Respuesta : In a hospital. O bien, I worked in a hospital.

Where did I worked last year? incorrect

Where I work last year? Incorrect

Examples – Ejemplos

What did Aura paint? Aura painted a beautiful picture

When did my mother wash my clothes? My mother washed my clothes yesterday
Where did Andres study? Andres studied in a bilingual school
What did Stephany and Roxana watch? Stephany and Roxana watched TV
Why did Alex close the window...? Alex closed the window because he was cold
