I have developed my own philosophy that I am both the artist and canvas of my own life, shaping it into a masterpiece. As the artist, I decide the path, colors, and details of my life just as an artist decides their medium and style. While I make mistakes at times, I can fix them and continue improving my masterpiece. Others may not appreciate my art since tastes are subjective, but I am in control of crafting my own life.

Upon hearing and learning about the different philosophical
perspectives of different philosophers, I have realized and came up with my own philosophy. As an artist, I thought of a philosophy that is also connected with me being one which is, “I am both the artist and canvas of my own life, making my own a masterpiece.” It seems simple but just like other quotes from philosophers, mine has a meaning too. This philosophy of mine simply means that I am the artist of my life, deciding what subject I want to have, what medium I want to use, if I will just leave it in pencil or if I will color it, and if I do color it, what are the colors that I will use, will I use neutral colors or the vibrant and brilliant ones? In short, we are the masters of our life. Just like what Gilbert Ryle said, “you are what you do,” my philosophy also tells us that we are what we do. We decide the path that we must take and every decision that we do in life, whether it is small or big, it can still make an impact in our life. Thus, we have to make sure that we always choose the right decision for us to achieve the masterpiece that we want to be because if we don’t, we can make mistakes and even ruin our art. However, it is inevitable that we make mistakes because we are only human and these mistakes can still be fixed just like how artists use erasers, correction tapes, and white paints, to cover and fix their mistakes. Not only are we the artist and canvas, but we are also the art. We must remember that art is subjective and not all people will like us— our appearance, personality, behavior, beliefs, and so forth, because others are also an art made from different medium and styles and have different tastes and preferences.
