Be in past simple is: Was/Were

Can in past simple is: Could

Was/Were: Era, estaba

Este verbo es utilizado para expresar que algo o alguien estaba o era algo en el pasado.

Grammatical Rules:

Affirmative:

I, he, she, it + was + complement.

We, you, they + were + complement.

Example: I was in the Tom´s party.

Negative:

I, he, she, it + was not/ wasn´t + complement

We, you, they + were not/ weren´t + complement

Example: The dog wasn´t my pet.

Interrogative:

Was + I, he, she, it + complement + ?

Were + we, you, they + complement + ?

Short answers:

Yes, + I/ he/ she/ it + was

No, + we/ you/ they + were not/ weren´t

Example: Were they in the park this morning?

Could: Podía, podías, pudo, pudiste.

Este verbo es utilizado para expresar que algo ya sucedió, o también es utilizado para brindar
alternativas.

Example: I could go to the concert

Negative:

Subject + could not/ couldn´t + verb in infinitive + complement

Example: Rose couldn´t do her homework

Interrogative:

Could + subject + verb in infinitive + complement + ?

Yes, + subject + could

No, + subject + could not/ couldn´t

Example: Could you buy the tickets for the cinema?
