1- PURPOSE

The purpose of method statement is to explain the scope of work for each activity and on this
method statement we are elaborating the process of installing for PVC , metal conduits and
accessories activities. In order to give the site engineers and supervisors on the site an induction
about the steps of installation for conduits and accessories procedure that will be carried on the
site. This section involves execution of the work and components for conduits and accessories.

2- SCOPE OF WORK

This "Method Statement" covers installation of PVC, metal conduits, fittings, and the
requirements of the checks to be carried out. This procedure is to be read in conjunction with
relevant document and checklist (attached) outlining the responsibility and quality verification to
be performed by various parties. This procedure defines the method used to ensure that all PVC

5- PROCEDURE SYSTEM

5.1- GENERAL CONDITIONS

 All workers are to attend safety induction training conducted by Contractor and given specific
training on the safe installation methods by the supervisor of AE ARMA-ELEKTROPANC
 It will be ensured that approved shop drawing is available with supervisor.
 It will be ensured that approved material required to carry out work will be available.

9|P age
 Prior to commencement of work, areas and access will be inspected to confirm that the site is
ready and safe to commence the work.
 All relevant documentation and material applicable to particular section of works will be checked
by site engineer before commencement of work.
 Physical verification of materials will be carried out for any damages prior to taking from
warehouse.
 The site engineer/supervisor will give the necessary instructions to the tradesman and provide
necessary construction/shop drawings.
 The site engineer/supervisor will also check that tools and equipment’s available are in
compliance to contract and safety requirements.
 The site engineer will arrange necessary means for loading and/or mobilization of materials

5.2- METHOD OF INSTALLATION

 PVC embedded Conduits will generally be installed for the following areas: Lighting, power
telephone, data, sockets, etc. which come close to the floor.
 Supervisor will ensure that, the center point of the wiring accessory on the wall is marked at the
level mentioned in the approved shop drawings.
 Marked the conduit clamp location. Always remember the distance of conduit clamp Should be as
per specification.
 Conduit routings above or below the location of the wiring accessory shall be marked and cut
with angle grinder. Then, the cut portion is chiseled out so that conduit can be placed in it.
 A grove is made on the wall according of conduit size, quantity or back box size
 Supervisor will ensure that, metal back boxes shall be cleaned,
 Where needed recommended accessories are used during installation.
 PVC box shall be projected out the block wall according to plaster thickness assigned by civil
contractor
 Minimal cement mortar is applied to fix boxes in position. Once the cement mortar is dried, PVC
conduits shall be laid in the wall cutting. PVC conduits are connected to PVC back boxes for
wiring accessories like switch, socket, etc. by PVC female adaptors. They are fixed to the end of
PVC conduits with PVC cement.
 PVC boxes shall be positioned straight to ensure the wiring accessory fixed on it shall also be
straight.
 Once installation of conduits is complete, for each section of PVC conduits shall be checked so
that it the wiring route is cleared.
 Where use metal conduit and back box, phase and neutral wires are connected to it and the earth
wire shall be connected to the earth lug of the box.
 PVC conduits are connected to other PVC conduit use proper coupler and to join inserting the
PVC conduit into the PVC coupler, it shall be twisted to make sure that the PVC conduit inserted
properly
 Where needed use flexible conduit but make sure use proper PVC coupler.
