- Jose Rizal is a national hero and patriot; all his writings were an eye-
opener for all Filipino and the youth on how he loved this country.
Everyone knows Rizal but doesn’t know completely what happened in
the past. People need to know how he became a hero and how he
fought during the Spanish era.

3. How does the article relate to the lesson?

- This article will help and guide the students to understand more about
Rizal and Rizal law. Republic Act No. 1425 also known as Rizal law is
all about including his writings and life into the subject to colleges and
universities. That Rizal law is not about completely ruining the catholic
churches but implying his experience on how he fought just to gain
our independence.
How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?
- Through his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, he wrote
everything about how he experienced abuses and injustice during the
Spanish era. He fought and stood his ground so the Philippines could
gain independence. He sacrificed his life to show how he loved the
country. Rizal, knowing that Filipinos were also one of the reasons
why the Spanish ruled the Philippines, still fought and gained back the
freedom that we deserved.
How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?
- Jose Rizal knew that the Philippines in the future would become what
he envisioned, so in order for us to be aware of the past and the
happenings and what Rizal did, he wrote the 2 novels to foster
patriotism. He wants the country to be peaceful and free from the
colonizers. Therefore, he did what he had to do so we will not
experience this again.

How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?

- The Rizal law highlights how he sacrificed his life and fought without
anyone telling him to do so. He did it all on his own and was not
selfish. He also showed that there are other ways to become a hero in
our country, and that is fighting for the right not just for the benefit to
the country but also to ourselves.
