Chapter 2

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter describes of the methods and procedures used. Research

design, research methods, research subjects, instrument used, sampling

procedure, validation of the instruction & Statistical treatment.

REASEARCH DESIGN

With respect to the instrument used for gathering data and

information, survey test question was conducted.

RESEARCH METHODS

The researchers employed the quantitative method of research to

achieve the purpose of this study. The rationale for the use of this methods

lies on the facts that this is an evaluative research design to identify the

existing leadership style of the faculty members of the college of criminology

of the Ceguera Technological colleges

RESEARCH SUBJECT

The respondents of this study are made of 46 criminology instructors

of CTC who are beneficiary of the research. It is composing of 24 males or

52.2% and 22 females or 47.8% as shown in table 1.

DATA GATHERING TOOLS

In order to collect the pertinent data, the researchers yourself made

questionnaire - checklist which were distributed to the respondents. In the

questionnaire the items were categorized into A. Autocratic, B. Authoritative,

Consultative, Participative (appendices)

ADMINISTRATION AND RETRIEVAL OF DATA

The administration and retrieval of research instrument refer to the

processes involve in using and obtaining data for these instrument. The

retrieved of data is based on the questionnaire survey given to the standards

who were part of the critique in the leadership style of instructor of ctc.

VALIDATION OF INSTRUMENT

The following steps are followed in the validation the data gathered by

instrument employed objective of the questionnaire and the rating scales

were identified through a two way table of specification.

As shown in the table 2 The Autocratic is consist of 5 items or 10.9%

of the table of specification, while Authoritative is 7 or 15.2% and the

consultative 20 or 43.5% and the Participative 14 or 30.4% the total is 46

items.

Instrument Used

In order to gather the needed data and information, the researcher

conducted questionaire test given in order to find out the teaching strategies

of the faculty members of the criminology of Department Ceguera

Technological Colleges, Iriga city

Research Sampling Procedure

The sample respondents were drawn from the criminology instructors

Ceguera Technological Colleges, Iriga city, The total number of respondents

were 24 males and 22 Females. All the respondents were given the survey

questionaire.

Statistical Treatment

The research several statistical tools to treat the data gathered. For

interpretation and analysis of the daya gathered, The following statistical

measures were used through technique and weighted mean.

Percentage is total by which the relative proportion of the values taken

for the sub- Group is determined by dividing sum of the value of the sub-

group and multipled by 100. Percentage given a single value descriptive of

the whole sub group relative to other sub group and the group it self.

weightes mean was used to measure the leadership style of the faculty

members of the college of criminology, as perceived by criminology students,

leadership style offered the formula.
