14.1 Construction of a Homogenous Equation

1. 𝑦 = 4𝑒 2𝑥 + 3𝑒 −𝑥
𝑦 = 𝑐1 𝑒 2𝑥 + 𝑐2 𝑒 −𝑥

𝑚1 = 2 𝑚1 − 2 = 0
𝑚2 = −1 𝑚2 + 1 = 0

(𝑚 − 2)(𝑚 + 1) = 0

(𝐷 − 2)(𝐷 + 1)𝑦 = 0

2. 𝑦 = 7 − 2𝑥 + 2 𝑒 4𝑥

𝑦 = (𝑐1 + 𝑐2 𝑥 ) + 𝑐3 𝑒 4𝑥

𝑚1 = 0 , 𝑚2 = 0 , 𝑚3 = 4

(𝑚2 )(𝑚 − 4) = 0
