MESSAGE

To the Learner
.
This module is to be utilized by the Grade 5 pupils to deepen their
understanding on the Male Reproductive System.

The Male Reproductive System plays an important role in human reproduction,

because it helps a human being to produce another human being. As you go on with
this module you will able to identify the parts and functions of the male reproductive
system, as well as appreciate the importance of the male reproductive system in
reproduction.

To the Facilitator

This module is given to the learner so that he/she can track the lessons at
school which he/she missed to attend due to absences and some activities. The
parent/guardian who will assist the learner in answering this module shall be able to
meet the given objectives and be sure to it that the learner will fully understand the
content. Please assist the learner if needed.

What I Need to Know

Welcome to the world of Science!

In this lesson you are guided on the different parts and functions of the male
reproductive system, it contains information about the male reproductive system. It
also contains different activities that will deepen your understanding about the male
reproductive system
You are then required to read, understand, appreciate and internalize the
functions of the male reproductive system, so that at the end of the lesson you may
be able to grasp and fully understand the parts and functions of the male reproductive
system.

going through this module, you are expected to:

Learning Objectives:
Cognitive: Identify the major parts and functions of the male reproductive
system.
Affective: Appreciate the role of the male reproductive system in the reproduction
of human life.
Psychomotor: Draw and label the parts of the male reproductive system

What’s New

Lesson 1: Male Reproductive System.

It is important that each learner should identify the parts and functions of the
male reproductive system to understand their importance in human reproduction.

Directions: Match the functions of the male reproductive system in column A to its
respective parts in Column B. Write the letter of your answer on the space provided.
______1. A pair of pouches like that protects the testes a. Penis

______3. Gland that produce sperm cells. c. Cowper’s Gland
______4. Secretes fluid which nourishes the sperm. d. Seminal Vesicle
______5. External male organ with a tip called glan. e. Prostate Gland
______6. Provides sugar- rich fluid that
provides energy for the sperm cells’ motility. f. Epididymis
______7. It releases the fluid that flushes out foreign
matters and neutralizes acidic urine in urethra. g. sperm cell
______8. The tube that stores sperm cells. h. Urethra
______9. The passageway of sperm cell coming i. Vas Deferens
from the testes.
______10. The male reproductive sex cell. j. testes

What is It

Study the diagrams below. Each reproductive organ has a specific function in
the reproductive process. Tables 1.1 will help you understand the functions of the

ORGAN DESCRIPTION/LOCATION FUNCTION

Testis (testes in plural) typically paired, the testis consists of produces sperm cells and secretes
many highly coiled tubes or ducts the male sex hormones
surrounded by several layers of
(androgen and testosterone)
connective tissues; found inside the
scrotum sac scrotum

Scrotal sac or scrotum external saclike structure with Holds and protects the testis/testes
temperature slightly lower than that
of the rest of the body

Penis composed the spongy erectile deposits sperm into the vagina.Male
tissues; its head is covered by a organ for reproduction.
foreskin, which can be removed
through circumcision

Urethra a duct that runs through the length serves as the passageway for both
of the penis and opens to the sperm and urine; has an opening that
outside closes to pass one at a time

Epididymis long, narrow, flattened, highly stores mature sperm and is site
coiled cumulated ducts lying on the where the sperm cells gain the ability

testes fertilization

Vas deference (sperm a short muscular duct Passageway of the sperm cells
duct) released from the testes.

Prostate gland Thumb-sized, it consists of muscular Secretes a fluid that neutralizes the
and glandular tissues that lie around acidity of the vagina to ensure the
the base of the bladder survival of the sperm; aids in sperm
motility

Cowper’s gland A pair of pea-sized gland along the Secrete a fluid that may serve as
urethra and below the prostate gland lubricant and urine neutralizer.

Seminal Vesicle A pair of glands found between the It contributes to the semen
bladder and the rectum production, a sugar -rich fluid which
provides energy for the sperm cell'
motility.
