To Whom It May Concern,

It is my honor to recommend Olivia Burklow for this opportunity.

Words can’t fully describe the pride and honor I have serving as her instructor in the
Media Communications and Broadcasting program at the Southern Indiana Career &
Technical Center (SICTC). There are very few students I meet who “have the whole
package” – that drive, determination, maturity, talent, and desire for success that makes
them stand out above all others. Over the course of the last year, I have seen Olivia
develop into one of our program’s most impressive leaders who consistently goes
above and beyond the call of duty. Her leadership and self-discipline make her an ideal
candidate for this opportunity.

When I was first introduced to Olivia, I was immediately impressed by her maturity,
confidence, and spirit for life. She showcased a desire not only to learn but to grow in
her skills and become the best version of herself in my class. Olivia is self-driven and
does exceptional work that constantly impresses me as a high school educator. She
follows the rules and regulations and encourages her peers to continually do so. She
is a role model in the best way possible; educating and encouraging her peers to
make the best decisions both in and out of a classroom setting. She is not afraid to
stand up for her ideas in an appropriate manner while always listening and
considering the thoughts and opinions of others.

Little did I know that nearly a year later I would be impressed further still by this young
woman’s incredible talent and development. Olivia is known throughout the school (and
our program) for being a natural leader filled with an abundance of creative spirit;
someone who is not afraid to jump in and help. She is a delight because of her reliability
and intelligence. I feel blessed to watch her continue in this program during her senior
year as she takes on more difficult challenges and projects.

As Olivia’s teacher, I have been able to track her incredible personal and academic
progress, and I can attest that with her perseverance there is no mountain she cannot
climb. She even comes to class early and may stay after the bell to finish projects,
help our team, or assist in any way possible. She never shies away from a task, no
matter how basic or even challenging it might be.
I know her transcript will speak for itself, but Olivia’s work ethic and character are
something I highly value in her as an individual. From audio to video, she has a
natural talent and immense level of creativity that is unique for someone her age.
She handles problems well, is always willing to brainstorm ideas, and continually
thinks outside the box. When Olivia is assigned a project, she always takes it to
the next level without being asked.

Olivia’s character is equally as impressive as her academic and extra-curricular

achievements. She cares about those around her and is always ready to lend a
helping hand or word of encouragement. With her unwavering enthusiasm and talent,
having Olivia in the classroom is a joy for teachers and fellow students alike. Olivia is
an “idea person” which I love as a media instructor. She never hesitates to discuss
creative ideas or plans she would like to see in our program or at the station.

Olivia’s ability to perform competitively under pressure will surely serve her well. She is
a highly organized, intelligent, and capable young individual who would be an excellent
candidate for this opportunity. Olivia embraces constructive criticism and strives to
improve in every aspect of her education and professional development. I’ve
watched her meet deadlines consistently and turn in work that is professional grade for
our industry. I have 100% confidence she is going to change our world for the
better…in fact, she already has. Olivia is a true superstar in everything she does and
puts passion into every day in the classroom! She is excited to continue her education
and success.
