TAG QUESTIONS (CÂU HỎI ĐUÔI)

* Câu hỏi đuôi :

Là loại câu hỏi được thêm vào sau 1 câu nói dùng để xác nhận lại thông tin.
*Nguyên tắc chung:
Phần đầu khẳng định, phần đuôi phủ định và ngược lại.

S + V1 …….., don’t + S?
Vs,es ……. , doesn’t + S?
V2/ ed……….., didn’t + S?
S + be (am/is/are/was/were), be + not + S?
Vkk (can, could, will, would, should, …)…,Vkk + not+ S?
have/has/had+ V3/ed……, haven’t/ hasn’t/hadn’t + S?
S + will…, won’t + S?) / ( S + won’t…, will+S?)

NOTES:
1. Không dùng tên riêng hoặc danh từ trong câu hỏi đuôi, mà phải dung đại từ nhân xưng thay
thế.( I, you, we, they, he, she, it, và từ there)
2. Khi câu hỏi đuôi ở dạng phủ định, dùng hình thức rút gọn của “not” : n’t
(isn’t, aren’t…doesn’t, can’t, hasn’t… Note: will not………, won’t +S?
won’t ………, will +S?

3. Với động từ “have/ has/ had + to V1” thì ta dùng trợ động từ “do/ does/ did” cho câu hỏi
đuôi.

4. Mary doesn’t like milk, ……………………?
5. He can’t swim, ……………………?

NOTES:
1. Khi chủ từ trong mệnh đề chính là người: anyone, anybody, everyone, someone,
somebody…… thì chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là they.

Ex: 1. Someone called you , ……………………?

2. Khi chủ từ trong mệnh đề chính là vật: anything, everything, something …… thì chủ từ trong
câu hỏi đuôi là it.
EX: Everything is ready, ……………………?
3. Nếu mệnh đề chính có các từ phủ định như never, neither, no, none, no one, no body,
nothing, scarcely, barely, hardly, seldom,rarely, little… thì câu hỏi đuôi ở thể khẳng định.
Ex: Nothing was sold, ……………………?
Peter hardly goes to the party, ……………………?
Noone believes him,………………………….?
4. Nếu chủ từ là this, that thì chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi có thể là it
Ex: That is a very interesting film, ……………………?
5. Nếu chủ từ là these, those thì chủ từ trong câu hỏi đuôi là they
Ex: These books are new, ……………………?
6. Hình thức câu hỏi đuôi của I am … là aren’t I ? hay am I not?
Ex: I’m late, ……………………?
Hay I’m late, ……………………?
7. Câu mệnh lệnh: không có chủ từ, thường có từ please
Khẳng định (bắt đầu là V1): phần đuôi là will you? ( hoặc:would/ could/ won’t you?)
Phủ định ( bắt đầu là Don’t+ V1): phần đuôi là will you?
Ex: Come in, ……………………?
Don’t do that, ……………………?
8. Câu đề nghị (bắt đầu là Let’s) phần đuôi là shall we?
EX: Let’s go for a walk, ……………………?
9. “ought to” phần đuôi là shouldn’t
EX: You ought to go out once in a while, ……………………?
10. Mệnh đề trước dấu phẩy là cấu trúc wish – I WISH, thì câu hỏi đuôi là MAY I
EX: I wish to study English, ……………………?
11. Câu đầu có I + các động từ sau: think, believe, suppose, figure, assume, fancy, imagine,
reckon, expect, seem, feel that + mệnh đề phụ thì lấy V ở mệnh đề phụ (V.2) làm câu hỏi đuôi.
Nếu mệnh đề chính có “not” thì vẫn tính như ở mệnh đề phụ (phần đuôi không not).
EX: I think he will come here, ……………………?
I don’t believe Jean can do it, ……………………?
* Câu đầu có S (không phải là I) + các động từ sau: think, believe, suppose, figure, assume,
fancy, imagine, reckon, expect, seem, feel that + mệnh đề phụ thì lấy mệnh đề đầu (V.1) làm
câu hỏi đuôi.
EX: They think he is the best football player, ……………………?
12. Chủ từ là mệnh đề danh từ: Dùng it
EX: What you have said is wrong, ……………………?
Why he killed himself seems a secret, ……………………?
