Thể bị động là cách thức tạo câu trong đó đối tượng ch u tác động được nhấn mạnh và đưa lên
đứng đầu câu.
Ví dụ: The children prepare breakfast every morning. (Ch thể thực hiện hành động: The
children, Đối tượng ch u tác động: breakfast)
Breakfast is prepared by the children every morning. (Đối tượng ch u tác động trong
câu được đảo lên đầu nhằm nhấn mạnh đến hoạt động the children làm mỗi sáng là make
breakfast.)
Bước 1: Xác đ nh tân ngữ trong câu (đối tượng ch u tác động c a ch ngữ) rồi chuyển lên đầu
làm ch ngữ.
Bước 2: Xác động động từ trong câu (hành động mà ch ngữ thực hiện lên tân ngữ) rồi chuyển
sang thể b động.
Cách chuyển động từ từ dạng ch động sang thể b động:
Bước 3: Xác đ nh ch ngữ c a câu (ch thể thực hiện hành động), thêm by đằng trước ch ngữ
rồi chuyển cả cụm by + chủ ngữ xuống cuối câu.
Lúc này ch ngữ c a câu sẽ đóng vai trò là tân ngữ.
Nếu ch ngữ c a câu không phải là sự vật/đối tượng cụ thể mà là những từ như people,
somebody, he, she… thì có thể không cần nh c đến trong câu b động.
Ví dụ: Somebody donated the money to the hospital.
Money was donated to the hospital.
LƯU Ý:
1. Một câu phải có tân ngữ (đối tượng ch u tác động) mới có thể đổi sang thể b động.
3. Đối với các động từ thuộc v giác uan như see/observe/hear, thể b động:
to be seen/observed/heard to do st: các hành động l p lại hay theo thói quen.
The geese were observed to fly south every autumn. (habitual action)
to be seen/observed/heard doing st: hành động nào đó đang diễn ra
The geese were seen swimming in the pond. (in-progress action)
4. Bên cạnh giới từ by, các giới từ at & with cũng có thể được sử dụng trong câu b động.
At: be alarmed at, be surprised at
With: be pleased with, be satisfied with, be covered with, be (pre)occupied with
At or With: be delighted at/with, be disgusted at/with

Task 1: Read aloud the texts below. For each text, you will have 45 seconds to prepare. Then
you will have 45 seconds to read the text aloud.
1. Now, the United States, the last 24 hours, we’ve seen more in the way of damage
from several thunderstorms and some reported so far across into Texas and up into
Oklahoma. You could see in the last few hours still some very, very active
thunderstorms across those central-southern plains. Widespread damage, as four
tornados reported, is expected today. This whole system has to work its way into the
Southeast – very warm, moist air ahead of those weather systems.
2. Feeling crabby lately? It could be you aren’t getting enough sleep. ork, household
responsibilities, and child care can make sleep difficult to come by. Factors in other
unexpected challenges such as financial worries, layoff, relationship issues, or illness,
and quality sleep may be even more elusive. You may not be able to control or
eliminate all of the factors that interfere with your sleep, but you can create an
environment and adopt habits that encourage a more restful night.
3. Do you have a favorite picture of one of our country’s nation park, memorials or
monuments? People are blessed with the beauty and splendor of our protected
national parks, monuments and memorials. Upload your photos before February 6.
Then come back again and again to view new entries and cast your vote for the best
picture. One vote per user per day! Voting begins February 7 and ends February 10.

you will have 45 seconds to read the text aloud.
1. Good morning, everyone, and welcome aboard our Discover Chicago tour bus. Our first stop
will be Navy Pier. The Pier opened in 1916 and was a busy shipping port in its early days.
Now the pier has been turned into a large shopping and amusement area. You’ll have plenty
of time to look around during our stop there.
2. Now, anyone can book a tee time - and lodging, if desired - on the golf page on the
Michigan.org site, found under the outdoors link. We have improved our website recently.
Once there, you can search by region, course or date. Say you’ve suddenly got Friday
morning opening and a hankering to drive north. The site will tell you what tee-times are
open where, and then let you book from there. Incredibly, the state has 850 golf courses to
choose from.
3. Attention please! Passengers who bound for Hillsville, Roseville and Billington on the six-
twenty express train, we have a sudden change in the departure schedule. Due to the heavy
snow in those areas, these trains won’t be able to depart today. Instead, we are planning to
resume the service tomorrow morning. Passengers, please come to the information desk to
change or cancel your ticket. We apologize for the inconvenience.
