1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose and Scope
The main objective of this manual is to define the procedure to perform Product Stewardship assessments
and sign off during New Product Introduction to ensure global compliance with current, new, and emerging
environmental regulations for Fire, Security, Electric Products and Building Management System Projects
as per the market destination.
Below Projects are in scope for NPI Product stewardship Assessment:
1. EEE -Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Hardware / Mechanical changes)
2. Above Waterline Projects

Given below are the Global Regulations that are in scope for the NPI PS Assessment
1. ROHS (2011/65/EU RoHS 2 and Amendment (EU) 2015/863).
2. Toxics in Packaging Legislation.
3. EU Packaging Material Labelling.
4. WEEE (2012/19/EU).
5. REACH (EC 1907/2006) and Waste Framework Directive 2000/60/EC.
6. China ROHS.
7. UAE ROHS.
8. California Proposition 65: Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
9. Eco-design requirements for Electronic Displays (EU 2019/2021).
10. Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

2. NPI PS Assessment Timeline

NPI projects Priorities (Priorities are based on the PG5 Exit date and Revenue)
1. PG5 Exit Date in 1 Months – Priority 1
2. PG5 Exit Date in 3 Months - Priority 2
3. PG5 Exit Date > 3 Months - Low Priority

5. Product Stewardship Compliance Plan:

PSC Plan must be completed by the Project Manager.” Discovery phase” section to be filled
with the required information and the excel file will automatically show the requirements for
every sales region in the “Dvp phase” sheet.
Project Managers will be sharing completed PSCP with PS to check the accuracy of the
requirements.

6. NPI PS Assessment through Accolade

The Accolade tool is used to provide project, portfolio, and pipeline management visibility across
global business to NPI stakeholders and executive leadership. The responsibility of Product
stewardship team is to provide status in Accolade at Discovery and Development phase gate of
the NPI.

6.1 Navigating in Accolade tool

Below given is the procedure to navigate Accolade tool (link to tool given in References section)
to perform NPI PS Assessment:

Project ID can be referred from NPI Masterfile (Link provided in References section).

6.2 Upload the PSC Plan in Accolade – Discovery Phase

6.3 Update PS Assessment status in Accolade – Discovery Phase

Once the PSC Plan is uploaded, the progress status of Product Stewardship plan can be
updated to “Completed” status for Discovery Phase as per the below screen shots.

6.4 Upload PSC plan and update PS Assessment status in

Accolade – Development Phase
During the Development Phase, the updated PSC Plan from Project Manager is uploaded in
Accolade like how it was performed during Discovery Phase (repeat the steps given in Discovery
Phase).

Document all the received PS deliverables in respective NPI Share Point folder (Folder name
format: Project ID – Project Name) (Link provided in References section).

4. Product Environmental profile (PEP).
5. Plastic packaging tax - Ensure plastic packaging contains > 30% recycled content.
