1. PURPOSE
This standard provides a formal system to identify, evaluate and manage occupational Health,
Safety and Environment (HSE)-related hazards of certain tasks. A Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
will be prepared to assure employees understand how to perform assigned task(s) in order to
eliminate or minimize their risks to incidents.
2. SCOPE
2.1. This standard address minimum requirements for an HSE JSA.
2.2. This standard applies to:
a. BP AKR Business Units, Partnership and Contractor Companies who work at BP AKR
work area.
b. Employees and other individuals (including temporary employees and contractor
personnel), company’s visitors, or any other person(s) who work and/or are present in
the workplace.
3.2. SOP – stands for Standard Operating Procedures; a document which provides guidelines to
clearly identify main/critical steps of task, resources, skill, authority and/or task procedures
required to do the job safely, effectively and in a high-quality standard.
SOP is developed to address the identified hazards and risks, to adhere to applicable
occupational health, safety and environment (HSE) legislations associated with the
assigned task(s), and to meet the needs for effective task(s) execution.

4. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
4.1. Job Safety Analysis (JSA) shall be generated for a hazardous task(s) or part of a task that
has either or a combination of the following conditions:
a. New tasks, particularly the high-risk ones;
b. Any tasks especially the critical one where SOP has not been generated yet. In future
this JSA shall serve as the basis for generating the SOP of the task.
c. Any tasks where there is/are irregularity(ies) and/or presence of hazardous steps that
cannot be addressed by the existing SOP.
4.2. Participation of employees in developing the JSA, especially the experienced ones, is highly
recommended.
4.3. JSA shall be readable and understandable, available in the work location and used by
employees performing the hazardous task(s).
4.4. JSA shall be developed in writing in Bahasa Indonesia, and English where practical, and
communicated to relevant parties.
4.5. Each JSA generated shall have standardized numbering for easy identification.
4.6. As minimum, JSA shall identify the following aspects:
a. Critical steps of the assigned task(s);
b. Hazard(s) that each step has;
c. Recommended actions or procedures required to mitigate identified hazardous tasks to
ensure that each step of task is done safely and healthily.
4.7. Developed JSA shall use attachment 10.1 template of this standard and approved by the
Activity Owner or relevant Department Head.
5. STANDARDS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
5.1. BP AKR President Director
a. Ensure BP AKR has its own Standard to regulate the development and use of JSA in
BP AKR work area and review the standard at minimum every three (3) years.
b. Provide resources for the effective implementation of JSA.
c. Ensure that JSA shall be part of the implementation of BP AKR management system.

f. Prominently display the JSAs in strategic work locations/facilities in area of responsibility,
for quick reference.
5.4. Employee
a. Read, understand and follow the JSA.
b. Whenever there is/are step(s) in question, immediately consult the immediate supervisor.
c. Correct and/or report any deviations or non-compliance in the implementation of JSA
immediately to his/her supervisor.
