TITLE:
Avocado, Kamias, Papaya as an Alternative Liquid Detergent Soap

Statement of The Problem:

This Study aims to find out the effectiveness of Avocado, Kamias, Papaya as an
Alternative Liquid Detergent Soap.

Furthermore, this Study seeks answer to the following questions:

a) What kind of stain will the Avocado, Kamias and Papaya immediately remove?
b) How Long is the shelf life of the detergent?
c) What Proportion of avocado, Kamias, and Papaya will effectively remove
stains or rust?
d) How much time will it take for the stain to be removed?

SCIENTIFIC NAMES:
 Avocado – Persea Americana
 Kamias – Averrehoa Bilimbi
 Papaya – Carica Papaya

 Avocado, kamias, and Papaya all have a similarity when it comes to their
properties, they all contain oxalic acid.
 What is Oxalic Acid?
Oxalic Acid is a dicarboxylic acid with a chemical formula of
C2H2O4. This kind of acid features bleach-like qualities and can be
used for removing rust and stains.

Kamias:
 Kamias Uses and Benefits Kamias:
 (Averrhoa bilimbi) is a mall tree growing 5 to 12 meters high. Leaves
are pinnate, 20-60 cm long, with hairy rachis and leaflets. Leaflets are
opposite, 10 to 17 pairs, oblong, 5 to 10 cm in length. Flowers, about
1.5 cm long, and slightly fragrant. Fruit, green and edible, about 4 cm
long, subcylindrical with 5 obscure, broad, rounded, longitudinal lobes.
In Malaysia, it is called delimbing asam; in Indonesia, it isbelimbing
besu; in Thailand, it is taling pling, or kaling pring. To the French it is
carambolier bilimbi, or cornichon desIndes. Filipinos generally call it
kamias but there are about a dozen other native names.

 Kamias Properties:
 The oxalic acid solution extracted from Kamias had a median score of 1.
This indicated a very light coloration after application to the coffee-
stained fabric, showing its bleaching effect. Compared with the
commercialized sodium hypochlorite solution (Clorox), which scored a
median of 0, the oxalic acid solution showed lesser bleaching effect.
Median of 0 indicates no visible stain after application to the coffee-
stained fabric. Clorox have been used for several years as a common
household bleaching agent containing sodium hypochlorite who has
the ability to oxidize the bacteria's cell wall killing the organism
(Myers, 2007). Expectedly, the incomparable bleaching effect of Clorox
showed no visible stain median score on the coffee - stained cotton
fabric. On a lighter note, when the experimental oxalic acid solution is
compared with the group where it was only soaked with distilled
water, the bleaching effect observed was greater. Water only had a
median score of 3, which indicated a slightly dark coloration after
treatment. Water is used basically on any type of stain but is not
usually 100% effective as a stain remover if used alone (Centeno,
2013). Using pairwise comparison, it showed a significant difference on
the median scores of the discoloration of the stain in the three groups
after intervention.
 Therefore, the oxalic acid solution from kamias showed a bleaching
effect on the coffee-stained cotton-made fabrics. It has proven the
claims of Philippine Medicinal that oxalic acid can be used as a
bleaching agent. https://www.herdin.ph/index.php?

 The Kamias fruit has a unique quality that sets it apart from the
Avocado and Papaya fruit. The Kamias fruit contains acetic acid. Acetic
acid is also known as ethylic acid, it is byproduct of fermentation, it is
also a stain remover.
 It also contains acetic acid Acetic acid is also known as ethylic acid,

Avocado:
 Avocado Persea americana is a fruit tree native to Mesoamerica and Central
America but is currently grown worldwide. A member of the Lauracea family,
mature trees can reach heights from 15 to 30 m. Its fruit has a dark green,
rugose rind that covers a yellow-green pulp rich in oils that is appreciated for
its sensory and nutritional characteristics (Giffoni et al., 2009). The large seed
accounts for an average of 15–16% of fruit weight. The pulp is a significant
source of vitamins (D, E, B6, B12 and C), minerals as potassium, phosphorus,
calcium, iron and sodium (Dreher and Davenport, 2013), essential amino
acids (valine, lysine, phenylalanine, isoleucine, leucine, threonine and
methionine) and unsaturated fatty acids (oleic, linoleic and linolenic) (De
Oliveira et al., 2013).

 Avocado peals can also be incorporated into the mixture because of its
antibacterial properties. The avocado also contains Oxalic Acid which is a rust
and stain remover.

Papaya

 Papaya is not only good for the skin, but it can also act as a stain remover. It
also contains Oxalic Acid and whitening properties.
