Alpha Tau Chapter Meeting December 2, 2023 8:30 a.m. Winfield Community Center

The front doors were decorated with Christmas tree art from the first-grade class of Jessica Woods.

What a festive way to start the fun!

The refreshments were delicious and the presentation of melt-in-your-mouth homemade cinnamon rolls,
fresh fruit, sausage balls, and juice was fantastic. Unfortunately, we were all so busy enjoying the
refreshments, visiting, and having fun, no one thought to take a picture of the refreshment table.

President Sheri White called the meeting to order and led the Collect.

Debbie Ingle read the October

minutes. Linda Berry
approved the minutes as read.
Kayron Silas seconded.
Peggy Wood reported that
there was no change to the
Treasurer’s Report.
The Exhibit/Record Book Committee (Rannette Dean Chairman and members
Robin Butler, Lana Ward, and Amy Guin) reported that the New Teacher Goodie
Bags were assembled and later distributed on Monday, November 13 to the seven
new teachers in Marion County. Thank you notes to the
four local businesses (Walmart, Abby Nicole’s, Magnolia
Soap, Frisco Street Bakery) who donated items for the bags
were passed around to be signed and then will be hand
delivered.
Thank you, Robin, for visiting the businesses and
obtaining their support for the new teachers, and to Lana
and Amy for preparing the thank you cards.

Rannette Dean, member of the Alabama State Scholarship/World Fellowship/Enhancement Committee,

asked members to sign Christmas cards for two International World Fellowship Recipients. One recipient
chosen for our chapter is from Cuba and her Field of Study is “Biological Sciences, Cell Biology” which
includes Breast Cancer. She was requested by our chapter in remembrance of deceased member Staci
White. The second recipient is from Nigeria and her Field of Study is “Astronomy and Astrophysics”.
Both recipients are working on their PhD. All Alabama chapters have been asked to send cards and
welcome recipients to the United States and Canada.
