1. Cách dùng
- Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra
ex: I am studying
- Diễn tả hành động sắp xảy ra trong tương lai gần, diễn tả một kế hoạch
đã được lên lịch sẵn
ex: I am visiting my family on Friday
- Diễn tả hành động thường xuyên lặp đi lặp lại gây ra sự bực mình hay khó
chịu cho người nói. (always, continually)
ex: He is always talking in the class
2. Câu khẳng định
S + to be + Ving + O.
to be : I am
He/ She/ It/ Danh từ số ít is
A student is talking
We/They/ You/ Danh từ số nhiều are
The students are talking
ex: She is talking on the phone
talk on the phone: nói chuyện qua điện thoại
A cat is playing with toys
anniversary (n) kỷ niệm
wedding (n) đám cưới
prepare (v) chuẩn bị
They are preparing for wedding anniversary
3. Câu phủ định
S + to be+ not + Ving + O
I am not cooking
is not = isn’t
are not = aren’t
am not = không viết tắt
He isn’t feeding dogs
4. Câu nghi vấn
Do/Does + S + V bare?
To be + S + N/Adj?
Câu khẳng định:S + to be + Ving + O.
 => To be + S + Ving +O?
Are you talking?
Are you taking a photo of me?
5. Wh-questions
Wh- + am/ are/ is (not) + S + Ving?
What are you doing?
Is she going to the supermarket?
6.Dấu hiệu nhận biết
Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn có các dấu hiệu nhận biết như sau:
Trạng từ chỉ thời gian
now (bây giờ)
right now (ngay bây giờ)
at the moment (ngay lúc này)
currently (hiện tại)
at present (hiện tại)
It’s + giờ cụ thể + now
Ví dụ: It’s 12 o’clock now. (Bây giờ là 12 giờ.)
Một số động từ
Look!/ Watch! (Nhìn kìa)
Listen! (Nghe này!)
Keep silent! (Hãy giữ im lặng!)
Watch out! The train is coming! (Coi chừng! Đoàn tàu đang đến gần kìa!)

- Dạng khẳng định: S + V2 + O

- Dạng phủ định: did not = didn’t S + didn’t + Vbare + O

Trong câu có các từ như: yesterday, in the past, the day before, ago, last (week,
year, month) hoặc những khoảng thời gian đã qua trong ngày (today, this
morning, this afternoon).

- Dạng khẳng định: S + to be (was/were) +N/Adj
I/He/She/It/Chủ ngữ số ít + was
We/They/You/ Chủ ngữ số nhiều + were

I was at uncle’s house yesterday afternoon.
the house of uncle=uncle’s house
alone: một mình
I was alone.
My mother was on vacation.

was not = wasn’t
were not = weren’t
