GRAMMAR

1. Present simple
a. Form

(+) I, you, we, they + V-inf


He, she, it + Vs/es
(-) I, you, we, they + don’t + V-inf
He, she, it + doesn’t + V-inf
(?) Do + I, you, we, they + V-inf?
Does + he, she, it + V-inf?

Ví dụ:
I go to school. She goes to work.

b. Use
Thì hiện tại đơn dùng để diễn đạt một hành động mang tính thường xuyên, thói quen, hoặc
hành động lặp đi lặp lại có tính quy luật.
Ví dụ:
Mrs. Hoa goes to work every morning.
Cô Hoa đi làm vào mỗi buổi sáng
c. Signals
Trong câu hiện tại đơn thường có các phó từ chỉ tần suất như: always(luôn luôn),
usually(thường thường), sometimes(thỉnh thoảng), often(thường xuyên), every + thời gian
(cứ mỗi + khoảng thời gian),...
Ví dụ:
Jane always rides to school.
Jane luôn luôn đi xe đạp đi học
2. Future simple
a. Form

(+) S + will + V-inf


(-) S + won’t + V-inf
(?) Will + S + V-inf?

Ví dụ:
I will do it tomorrow.
She won’t have dinner tonight.
b.Use
Ta sử dụng thì tương lai đơn để diễn đạt một hành động sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai.
Ví dụ:
Nam will do his homework tomorrow evening.
c.Signals
Trong câu sử dụng thì tương lai thường xuất hiện những trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian sau:
tomorrow(ngày mai), in the future(trong tương lai), next +time (next month(tháng tới), next
year(năm tới))
3. Verbs of liking + V-ing
Chúng ta sử dụng động từ dạng V-ing đằng sau những động từ chỉ sự thích/ ghét sau.

Ví dụ:

4.Compound sentences
Câu ghép là câu có hai hay nhiều mệnh đề được nối với nhau bằng liên từ sau:
AND: và He likes working and playing in the same room.
BUT: nhưng She wants to eat some ice cream but she has a sore throat.
OR: hoặc We can go to the cinema or we can go to the museum tonight.
SO: vậy nên Dane eats too many sweets, so he has a stomachache.

5.Imperative with “more” and “less”


Chúng ta dùng câu mệnh lệnh với more và less theo công thức sau:

V + more/less!

Ví dụ:
Do more exercise! Drink more water!
Hãy tập thể dục nhiều hơn! Hãy uống nước nhiều hơn!
Eat less fast food! Sleep less than 10 hours per day!
Hãy ăn ít đồ ăn nhanh hơn! Hãy ngủ ít hơn 10 giờ mỗi ngày!

6. Past simple
a.Form
Verb To be
Dạng khẳng định S + V2/ ed S + was/ were
Dạng phủ định: S + did + not + V-inf S + was/ were + not
Dạng nghi vấn: Did + S + V-inf? Was/ Were + S...?

b.Use
Thì quá khứ đơn dùng để diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra và chấm dứt trong quá khứ,
không còn liên quan tới hiện tại.
Ví dụ:
He went to school yesterday.
Joey and Nana visited their grandparents last week.
c.Signals
Trong câu thường có các trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian quá khứ như: yesterday(ngày hôm qua),
ago(cách đây), last week/month/year(tuần trước, tháng trước, năm ngoái, in + time(vào
thời điểm),...
7.Present perfect
a. Form

Dạng khẳng định S + have/ has + V3


Dạng phủ định: S + haven’t/ hasn’t + V3
Dạng nghi vấn: Have/ Has + S + V3...?

b. Use
• Thì hiện tại hoàn thành dùng để diễn tả một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ nhưng
không xác định cụ thể thời gian.
Ví dụ:
He has finished his homework.
• Chỉ hành động xảy ra nhiều lần trong quá khứ và có thể tiếp diễn trong tương lai.
Ví dụ:
I have listened to that song many times.
•Chỉ một hành động bắt đầu trong quá khứ và vẫn còn tiếp diễn ở hiện tại.
Ví dụ:
She has lived in that house for 10 years.
c. Signals
since vàfor
for + khoảng thời gian: for two days, for ten years,...
since + mốc thời gian: since 1994, since February,...

Alreadydùng trong câu khẳng định, thường đứng ngay sau have/ has,thỉnh thoảng sẽ
đứng cuối câu
Yet dùng trong câu phủ định và câu nghi vấn, thường đứng ở cuối câu
Một số trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian
Các trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian sau thường dùng với thì hiện tại hoàn thành: so far, until now,
up to now, up to present, recently, lately,...

8.Comparison with “as... as”and “the same as”


Ta dùng as ... asvà the same askhi muốn nói về hai sự vật, sự việc giống nhau
a. Form

Dạng khẳng định S1 + be + as + adj + as+ S2


= S1 + be + the same + N + as+ S2
Dạng phủ định: S1 + be not + as/ so + adj + as+ S2
= S1 + be not + the same + N + as+ S2

Ví dụ:
She is as short as his father.
Danny is the same height as his father.
9. Comparison with “different from”
Ta dùng different from khi muốn nói tới hai sự vật, sự việc khác nhau.

Dạng khẳng định S1 + be + different from+ S2


Dạng phủ định: S1 + be not + different from+ S2

Ví dụ:

10.Expressing agreement with “too/ either”
• Khi muốn thể hiện sự đồng ý với một mệnh đề khẳng định, ta dùng too.
Ví dụ:
Jack works in the AI Company.
Dan works there, too.
• Khi muốn thể hiện sự đồng ý với một mệnh đề phủ định, ta dùng either.
Ví dụ:
She doesn’t have a History book.
Idon’t have it either.
10. Countable and uncountable nouns
a. Countable nouns
-Danh từ đếm được để chỉ những gì có thể đếm được: một, hai, ba, bốn,...
-Có thể dùng a/an và số đếm trước danh từ đếm được.
-Danh từ đếm được tồn tại ở hai dạng: số ít và số nhiều.
-Để chuyển danh từ từ dạng sổ ít sang dạng số nhiều, ta thêm s/ es vào sau danh từ ấy.

b. Uncountable nouns
Danh từ không đếm được chỉ những gì không thể đếm được, những cái mang tính trừu
tượng
Không thể dùng a/ an và số đếm trước danh từ không đếm được.
Động từ chia sau danh từ không đếm được luôn luôn ở dạng số ít.
Ví dụ:
Bread Cream Nature Weather
Bánh mì Kem Thiên nhiên Thời tiết
c. A/ an/ some/ any
a/an(một), some/any(một vài) được dùng để chỉ số lượng cho cả danh từ đếm được và
không đếm được.

COUNTABLE NOUNS
Singular Plural
(+) There is a pen. There are some books.
(-) There isn’t an engineer. There aren’t any pictures.
(?) Is there an egg? Are there any pencils?
UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS
(+) There is some bread.
(-) There isn’t any milk.
(?) Is there any water?

11. Question word: Howmuch and Howmany


Ta sử dụng How muchcho danh từ không đếm được và How manycho danh từ đếm được.
Ví dụ:
How many meals do you have every day?
How much water would you like to drink?
12. Passive voice for present simple and past simple
Khi muốn nhấn mạnh tới đối tượng tác động của hành động, ta sửdụng thể bị động.
Thể bị động phổ biến trong văn viết nhiều hơn trong văn nói.
