Unconsciously, I am sometimes very demanding and hard on myself. This means that I could get very
upset with myself when things don't go as I wish or when can make mistakes can attack myself and feel
shame. So I decided to allow myself to be less prejudiced and find a balance where I can be aware of my
actions and their consequences without being annoying to myself. I realized that this often happens
when I have so many high expectations and immediate results. Also, I reminded myself that, in order to
avoid any frustration caused by bad results, I have pursued excellence instead of getting obsessed with
perfectionism.

During the week I had to face difficulties and obstacles. Losing the cellphone, for instance, which is not
the end of the world, but nowadays, losing communication and connection with others creates a lot of
pressure. That's what happened to me, and I felt really upset and disappointed because I thought it was
my fault, when what really happened was that my phone was old and not working properly. It was
something that had to happen, sooner or later. Then, I just took action on getting a new phone
regardless of the lost data I had on the old phone. It took effort and sacrifice, but it was something I had
to do. During the process I became more aware of how shame in myself can be a dangerous and
damaging thought when it comes to solving problems and overcoming difficulties.

3) Mindfulness: State what you did for 5-20 minutes/day to calm and recharge your mind. What
challenges or breakthroughs did you encounter? (2 points)

I applied the breathing execersices suggested by professor Monique during class. Especially before
practicing. Timing was the challenge, because of a tight schedule that I had during the week. I was able
to figure it out, and the breathing exercisese really helped me to calm myself
