How can I be a Good Teacher to my Students?

All in all, a good teacher must have the best quality as possible to give quality

education for the learners. Teachers are to perform their duties beyond the

expectations of the people around them. To be a good teacher, we must develop good

qualities that a teacher needs for us to grow and improve the profession we have

chosen, improvements that benefit both the teacher and the learner. Teachers have a

special part in molding a person’s life. A good teacher brings out the goodness in

others.

A good teacher must possess dignity and reputation with high moral values as

well as technical and professional competence. Teachers must be role models not just

to their learners but for society as well. But to answer the question of “How can I be a

good teacher to my students?” I would say I will be just, enthusiastic and empathetic.

Enthusiastic because being a student is a bitter-sweet process, we must

appreciate their uniqueness as an individual and respect their differences. Being fair

or just to your students build a community where they can be who they are. Without

the fear of being judge by someone is a great feeling especially, to your learners.

Being fair and unbiased means treating one another the right way.

Empathetic because a good teacher knows how to put his/herself in someone

else’s life. A good teacher transmits the best knowledge and values to their learners,

which will help them to have a positive outlook in life. We have to develop a

relationship with our students. We have to learn about their lives outside the class,
understand their misconceptions and errors. Knowing that you support them and give

them a genuine smile uplifts their morals. To recognize their strengths, invest in them,

lift them, and treat them as if they were what they ought to be and help them become

what they are capable of being.

As a future educator, let’s go out on a limb to deliver the approaches and tools

needed to help our learners enhance their knowledge and skills, support them in their

future endeavors and bring out their fullest potentials as individuals. Bear in mind that

we must help our learners get from where they are to where they haven’t yet been. A

good teacher helps their learners become motivated by guiding them to their gifts,

callings, talents, and strengths. To be a good teacher makes sure that the learning does

not just go to their heads but also in their hearts.
