1. Carry out deflection test on simply supported beam and compare results theoretically. (100)

2. Verify Principle of superposition using simply supported beam setup. (100)

3. Verify Maxwell’s reciprocal theorem using cantilever beam setup. (100)

Minimum 5 trail readings are required.

Note:

i. Theoretical verification must be given using the same beam setup.

ii. Vernier Caliper should be used for your geometrical measurements.

4. Determine the Euler load for the given pinned-pinned column with eccentric loading and compare

the results theoretically. (100)

5. Conduct an experiment to determine the flexural rigidity of composite beams. (100)

6. Conduct unsymmetrical bending test on a Z section beam and determine the principal planes for the
Z section. Verify the results graphically. (100)

7. Conduct an experiment to determine the material fringe value for the given beam section made of
photo elastic material by subjecting to flexural loads. (100)

8. Conduct an experiment to determine the Natural frequencies (free vibration) of the given cantilever
beam. (100)

9. Conduct an experiment to locate the Shear centre for the given channel section. (100)

10. Conduct an experiment to determine the stresses in the flange and web portion of the given Wagner
beam subjected to a shear load at the free end. Determine the angle of diagonal tension (Alpha).

11. Experimentally find deflection of the cantilever beam. Compare experimentally observed deflection
with solution obtained from strength of material. (100)

Note: Fix your dial gauge at mid length of the beam.

12. Conduct an experiment to determine the maximum and minimum principal stresses for the given
shaft subjecting to combined bending and Torsional load. (100)

i. Theoretical verification must be compared with experimental data’s.

13. Conduct an experiment to determine Elastic constants for a given Glass/Epoxy composite Flexural
Specimen. (100)

18. Conduct an experiment to locate the Shear centre for the given open channel section subjected to a
vertical load of 2kg and 3 kg. Give reasons for the variation if any. Draw the shear flow pattern for
the given section. (100)
