Ambient Loop research part two of two

Task 2/2: Interpret your research to help develop your product (U10:LO1_AC1.2)

Instructions:
1. Answer ALL of these questions. There are five in total.
2. Some are tasks which require collecting images together to form a MOOD BOARD.
3. PROVIDE EXAMPLES for each one of them in the form of URLS and/or images.
4. Explain WHY you have chosen each one (what you like/don’t like: reflection).
5. You will be expected to add small aspects of research to your weekly blog after doing
these sheets.

Question 1/5
Select three genres of ambient music you think your chosen audience could like. Pick your final choice and
say why you chose it.

Reason why you like each one (reflection):

1. Game music like this especially from the legend of Zelda series creates a relaxing feeling and makes the
listener feel quite pleasant and can improve your mood. Especially if you are a fan of the game then it adds
that feeling of comfort as you’ve heard it before in a game that you’ve really enjoyed.
2. Nature sounds are great for calming you down and also can be used for going to sleep with. Its basic and as
they are things you can hear just by going outside but in a more harmonious rhythm it can be really pleasant to
listen to.
3. Lofi creates an upbeat feeling but its loud and fast peace but also is relaxing so its great to listen to whilst
doing homework or just needing to focus on something important and need something to listen to without
getting too distracted over it.

Final choice and reason: My personal choice would be game ambient music. As a really big fan of games, I’ve
had some really good memories created with this music being played so not only is it charming by itself I can
also get that nostalgic feeling from when I was listening to it while playing the game.

Create a mood board of AT LEAST 3 environment based sets of backgrounds which you like by selecting several images
per setting. Say where you got them from and why you like them. They MUST be from 2d animations.

Final choice and reason: I’m going for the first Environment which is a very calming and bright forest type
environment. I think it’s a really calming type of place but at the same time a lot can be going on in and around
it with its nature.

3. All 3 from the game Hollow Knight

The games character designs went with a bug like design but with some differences like the hands in the third
character for example. I really like how effective it is with stuff like the big black eyes, it makes them very
memorable.

This is a very basic but effective character design with them being human but with different proportions like
the eyes but it’s a good design that the characters themselves fit really well into.

What I like about this type of character design is how cartoony and completely made up the characters look.
They are not really based off anything and have a very silly look too them, but they work really well in the
setting of the show.
Final choice/style and reason: I really like the second one being the anime character design as I feel like you
have many options to make a character in that style whilst also looking very bright and crazy like in the 3rd style
but just making them look a lot more realistic and serious.

Question 4/5
Create three mood boards of AT LEAST 3 colour schemes which you might use on your chosen environment/style.
Ideally these would be schemes with a minimum of five colours in each. Say why you like them.

Colour scheme 1 (insert image here)

What you like about this scheme:
I really how light this scheme is but also how strong the colours are on each end. The colours here really
complement each other which is great when creating a background.
What you don’t like about it: I don’t like how there are only 4 colours so you don’t really get to see most of the
colours shades in-between the dark green and turquoise.

What you like about this scheme:

I like how they include a good number of greens into the scheme and so you can see a good amount of the
shades before it goes almost white.
What you don’t like about it: I think its quite a boring colour scheme where there’s only one colour but just
with lighter shades unlike the other two where there’s a bit more variety.

What you like about this scheme: I really like how this includes a lot of strong colours going from the dark blue
to turquoise to then white so the variety of colours is good.

What you don’t like about it: With the colours on each end and middle being strong there’s till a lot of smaller
shades they missed out on in between them.

Favourite potential choice for your animation and reason: My favourite and the one I’ve chosen is the first one
as I really love how the green and the turquoise match together. They complement each other really well and I
can see a nice garden with a river in that colour palette.
