3- The compression ratio of an ideal dual cycle is 14. Air is at 100 kPa and 300
K at the beginning of the compression process and at 2200 K at the end of the
heat-addition process. Heat transfer to air takes place partly at constant volume
and partly at constant pressure, and it amounts to 1220.4 kJ/kg. Assuming
constant specific heats for air, determine:
The pressure, temperature and specific volume for each point in the cycle.
The fraction of heat transferred at constant volume and at constant pressure.
The thermal efficiency, amount of specific heat added, the maximum gas
pressure and temperature.
The cycle’s net specific work.
The cutoff ratio, the pressure ratio during constant volume heat addition
process.

Report 6:
4- An ideal dual cycle has a compression ratio of 15. The state of the air at the
beginning of the compression is 𝑷 = 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝒌𝑷𝒂 and 𝑻 = 𝟐𝟒 ℃. Heat transfer to
air takes place partly at constant volume and partly at constant pressure, and it
amounts to 1500 kJ/kg. The maximum gas pressure is 7.5 MPa.
𝛼𝑟𝑐𝑘 −1
Do not use this relation: 𝜂 = 1 −
𝑟𝑣𝑘−1 [(𝛼−1)+𝑘𝛼(𝑟𝑐 −1)]
Calculate:
The pressure, temperature and specific volume for each point in the cycle.
The fraction of heat transferred at constant volume and at constant pressure.
The thermal efficiency, amount of specific heat added, the maximum gas
pressure and temperature.
The cycle’s net specific work.
The cutoff ratio, the pressure ratio during constant volume heat addition
process.
