Position Description

Position Title: Planning Project Leader


Reports to: Wide Body Planning Manager for AKL or Narrow Body Planning
Manager for CHC
Division / Function: AM&D/Planning
Reporting level: Level 6 Location: Auckland/Christchurch

Role Purpose
 Under the guidance of the Planning Manager, and in conjunction with other business divisions and
stakeholders; plans, implements and co-ordinates specialist projects for the Aircraft Maintenance and
Delivery division, adhering to specification, budgetary and timeframe requirements, with effective
stakeholder engagement and proactive change management
 Provide leadership in the development, scoping, implementation, risk management and cost control of
planning projects
 Ensure compliance with regulatory/legislative requirements
 Ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
 Manage relationships with customers and business partners

Key Outputs
 Lead and deliver multiple projects, managing activity involving cross-functional teams across multiple
locations and managing internal and external project resources to deliver projects on schedule and
within budget.
 Develop project plans and proactively manage risks, issues, interdependencies, scope changes and
budgets.
 Co-ordinate all activity for effective project implementation, including trials, training, approvals, etc.
 Design and develop project communications and positively manage business change resulting from the
project to ensure change is embraced and embedded.
 Implement effective stakeholder management and project governance structures to ensure projects are
delivered in line with procedures, on time and within budget.
 Lead post-project reviews and implement lessons learnt, recommend and deliver business and process
improvements to ensure improvement of future projects and ongoing processes.
 Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders
and influencers to ensure successful project completion and achievement of division objectives.
 In conjunction with the Planning Manager, identify, develop, deliver and co-ordinate a programme of
innovative projects in support of annual business plans to ensure the delivery of maximum value.

Technical:
 Project Management Skills
 Project Management professional certification, University graduate in a business discipline, or equivalent
relevant experience
 Five years Planning or Project Experience, preferably in Engineering or Aircraft Engineering/Maintenance

 SAP and Microsoft Office Experience
 Knowledge and experience in the airline industry
 University graduate
