EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, there aren't many places where people may get affordable,
high-quality coffee. All of the coffee and espresso products offered by Uncle Zam Coffee are
prepared from premium coffee beans. Uncle Zam Coffee caters to each and every one of its
customers by providing specially brewed coffee and espresso products that are tailored to their
preferences. On June 12, 2022, Uncle Zam Coffee, the company that has given Bukit Jelutong
its most renowned flavour, was founded. Uncle Zam Coffee is a new, keen rival in the coffee
market for Bukit Jelutong. It offers coffee with a variety of syrups and toppings that can make
consumers happy even while they are being reprimanded by their boss. Due to Malaysia's
tropical environment, which means it is hot and humid all year round, and the slower but
continuous demand for hot coffee products, we are confident that our iced coffee is the finest
option.

A capable crew is in charge of the Uncle Zam Coffee business. Chief Executive Officer (CEO),
Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Chief Operating Officer (COO),
and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) are the roles that these managements represent. In
order to pay for startup expenses and provide a steady revenue for the first few months of
operation, these officers will donate money from their personal accounts. Uncle Zam Coffee
projects the following sales for the three years of the plan. By the end of the fourth month of
business, Uncle Zam Coffee should achieve financial parity. The first two months are expected
to see minimal profits, but the third month is expected to see a slight uptick. Everyone wants to
live at the top of the mountain, but Andy Rooney claims that happiness and growth happen
while you are climbing it. Uncle Zam Coffee believes that with all of our effort and perseverance,
we can succeed and be a formidable rival to Starbucks.

2.2 INDUSTRY STATISTICS

Figure 2.2.1 Total coffee consumption in Malaysia from 2013-2022

The coffee industry in Malaysia has grown over the past 50 years. With many outlets offering
various types of coffee products, The figure above shows Malaysian total coffee consumption
starting from 2013 until 2022. From the figure, we can see an uptrend in coffee consumption
among Malaysians especially from 2019 until the year 2022. It clearly indicates that the demand
for the coffee industry in Malaysia is growing rapidly due to the changes in Malaysian lifestyle. In
general, the consumption of coffee in Malaysia can be divided into two categories, instant coffee
and roast coffee. There are also some coffee products that are made in Malaysia, such as
OldTown White Coffee, and Aik Cheong. In terms of projected revenue, the Malaysian coffee
industry also reported a positive projected revenue until the year 2028 with a revenue of USD
258.78 million. Meanwhile, in terms of coffee production, Malaysia contributed 4241 metric tons
of coffee or about 0.04% of the total world production in 2020, ranked 47th globally for that year.
Malaysia's coffee industry also heavily relies on the import of coffee beans from countries such
as Vietnam (37.7%), Indonesia (32.1%), Colombia (9.2%), Brazil (7.6%) and others (13.1%). In
fact, our nation imports 97% of coffee to meet domestic needs with only 3% of local production.
2.3 ENVIRONMENTAL, BUSINESS AND DEMOGRAPHIC TRENDS

When it comes to coffee, it can be considered as a lifestyle, especially in recent years.

Specifically in Malaysia, there is a drastic increase in the number of modern coffee shops such
as Zus Coffee, Coffee Beans, He & She Coffee, Richiamo Cafe and so on. It consists of local or
global franchises that see Malaysia as a suitable place to venture coffee business.
When it comes to history, there is a strong background of coffee in the food and beverage
industry. It can be seen in the traditional coffee shop that is commonly known as Kopitiam.
However, at that time, the majority of coffee lovers came from the older people that usually
enjoy coffee in their neighborhood kopitiam shop usually in the morning.

Urbanization of lifestyle has changed the demographic of coffee lovers and coffee shops. During
the 1990 - 2010 era, most coffee drinkers were of the old generation. But right now, the younger
generation starting from age 18 years old also become huge fans of coffee. It is because
drinking coffee in the morning or at night has become a necessity for Malaysians, before they go
to work or when meeting people. In their view, coffee not only can help boost our energy for our
busy life but also as an indicator of a fancy lifestyle. They did not care to spend as much as RM
20 and above just for a cup of coffee. Kopitiam also has modernized in terms of its product and
its premise such as OldTown White Coffee and Pak Hailam Kopitiam. It shows that drinking
coffee has become a habit among the younger and adult generation, especially those who work.
Subsequently, it increases the demand and supply of coffee drinks in the market, growing the
industry to a new level.
2.4 ECONOMIC CULTURAL AND GOVERNMENTAL INFLUENCES

Coffee is one of the things that have been passed down from generation to generation. In
Malaysia. It all started during the British colonization era when Chinese immigrants moved to
Malaya to bring together their coffee culture to this land. There is also a tradition among the
Chinese that dipped doughnuts and biscuits into a cup of coffee for breakfast. Later, after the
independence, many hawkers started to sell coffee widely known as Kopitiam. Coffee culture
conjures up images of cappuccinos, lattes, and even cold brews. Malaysian coffee culture, on
the other hand, incorporates a wide variety of primitive brewing techniques. Traditional
Malaysian coffee, referred to as 'kopi' in Malay, is made by pouring boiling water through
grounds held in a traditional cloth filter. It's usually served hot or iced, with or without condensed
milk or a lot of sugar. Before World War II, locals would sip their morning coffee while gossiping
at marble-topped tables in shophouses with ceiling fans. Since then coffee has been a
Malaysian favorite drink, especially during the morning. There are also some traditional coffees
that are famous among Malaysians such as Ipoh white coffee, and Kopi Tarik and Kopi-o,
basically hot black coffee with sugar.

The growth of the coffee industry in Malaysia is also reflected by the government's initiative to
expand this sector. It started with the government incentive to grow our own Malaysian Coffee
Beans. According to the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry, the production of Coffee in
2020 increased to 4241 tonnes compared to 3559 in 2019. Under the 12th Malaysia Plan, the
government has allocated RM4.5 million for Coffee to build the infrastructure and post-handling
facilities. To boost the industry, The Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute
has also had to do many kinds of research that related to the development of new coffee
varieties and improved the harvesting speed. The first clone of Liberica coffee was successfully
made in 1992 called MKL1 followed by other clones in the following years. The harvesting
period of the coffee is also shortened ranging from 19 to 24 months. To make up for the surplus
in production and the different grades of quality of coffee beans, the government imported
coffee beans from other countries to meet domestic needs.
2.5 KEY SUCCESS FACTORS IN INDUSTRY

We are positive that we can become a big player in this industry. At Uncle Zam Coffee we
believe that the consistency of taste together with the top-notch service will become our main
pillar to succeed in this industry. Together with the uniqueness of the taste that comes from the
traditional recipe and high quality of ingredients, it will make our coffee superior to others. Even
though our product starts at RM 12 to RM 20, we will make sure that every sip of coffee is worth
every penny spent on it. In terms of management, we will ensure every decision made reflects
the company's vision, mission and ethics so that every action displays our positive image and
reputation. We will make sure that every member of the organization gives 100% of effort
towards the company's success.

To maximize our profit, we will make sure that our marketing strategies are effective and able to
reach our potential target customers at the same time making customers aware of our brand
and product. To do that we will utilize social media platforms which are Instagram and TikTok by
providing the finest contest that is suitable for our target market. This effort will make sure that
our target sales can be achieved and establish a brand presence in the market. On the other
hand, to support our social media marketing, we also will make sure traditional marketing such
as banners, billboards and flyers are attractive so that they can become a powerful tool to
persuade our target market to come and try our products. Last but not least, we also believe
that to make sure our business can sustain for a long period, we need to give back contribution
towards the community so that our relationship with them can be tightened in the future in order
for us to gain continuous support in the business.

4.7 MARKETING STRATEGY
The marketing strategy used by our company is a technique that enables us focus on our
business plan in order to meet our marketing objective. It includes details about the target
market as well as the needs and preferences of the consumers. The four components of
marketing, referred to as the 4Ps, are product, price, location, and promotion. This feature
helped customers in obtaining what they required.

4.7.1 Product

We sell a wide variety of coffees and customers can add toppings or syrups to give the coffee a
better taste. As we know coffee is one of the favorite drinks of the people of Malaysia even more
so in urban areas such as Selangor. We also have our own recipe that is passed down
generation by generation. That is our pride for anyone who wants to feel memorable coffee
experiences when drinking coffee.

4.7.2 Brand

A name, word, sign, symbol, or design that describes and sets one product apart from others is
known as a brand. Our product has its own brand in the eyes of the consumers. such that our
customers can pronounce, recall, and quickly recognise our goods. In addition, the brand of our
goods has the power to make or ruin it. In addition, a brand might copyright-protect our goods.
The moniker given to our coffee shop operation is Uncle Zam Coffee.

4.7.3 Quality

In order to convince clients to buy our goods, quality is important. As a consequence, we use
premium raw material, especially coffee beans, to guarantee that the customer is always
delighted with our product. The method for producing the coffee is likewise quite strict and
well-done. We check the goods for quality even before we deliver it to our customer.

4.7.4 Design

Design plays an important role in getting people to buy our coffee since they are more prone to
snap photographs of whatever they consume these days, especially food. Other toppings, or
syrup are added suitably on top of the coffee that we made to improve its look. The way coffee
appears can affect how people experience it. A customer is more likely to buy our coffee if the
design is unique.
4.7.5 Packaging

Packaging is also important to ensure that customers are drawn to it and that it is both
long-lasting and appropriate for usage in order to ensure the customer's satisfaction with the
product. Depending on the type of coffee, our product's packaging has a of colors that define
the coffee. We choose plastic cups because they are strong, enable us to ensure the greatest
degree of sanitary standards, and are portable.

4.7.6 Labeling

In order to help clients, labeling is an important aspect to take into account. The label is printed
on our coffee cup. Because it offers actual information about our coffee, this labeling is simple to
read and understand.

4.8 PRICE

Our company offered customers coffee at a reasonable price with high-quality ingredients. The
price is suitable with the taste and the experience that customers get.

4.8.1 Affordable Price

This strategy implies that the pricing is set by factoring in a profit margin on top of the cost of the
goods. Our product's cost per unit is around RM1, and our company made a markup of 100
percent of the goods. As a result, the pricing that our company offered to establish the price of
our cake is approximately RM10 per cup of coffee. In industries with significant fixed costs and
near-zero marginal costs, cost-based pricing is inappropriate.

4.9 LOCATION
Our shop is located at 2A Persiaran Tebar Layar, Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, Selangor. The site
is close to the source, which makes restocking raw materials easier. We are also located in the
middle of the city of Kuala Lumpur which is the main spot for tourists. This makes us easily able
to get customers due to so many people visiting this place every day. Furthermore, we can
simply obtain labor supply here.

4.10 DISTRIBUTION STRATEGIES

It's critical to have a distribution strategy in place to ensure that our product arrives in good
condition for our clients. When the buyer places an order, we make the product in our shop and
sell it. Only when the quality control process has been completed can we pass over our coffee
to the consumer.

Manufacturer ——————————————> Customer

4.10.1 PROMOTION
The advertising plan for our business is a means of attracting clients. We employed promotion
together with product, pricing, and location methods to accomplish our marketing goals. To carry
out our marketing strategy, we rely on advertising as one of our ways of promoting products to
consumers..

4.10.2 ADVERTISING
Our company's advertising strategy, which includes business cards, pamphlets, websites, and
billboards, is utilized to increase, sustain, and assist in the sale of our goods. This medium
allows people to obtain information.

4.10.3 PAMPHLETS
The best technique to promote our firm and goods is through pamphlets or brochures. People
can learn more about our firm and product by reading the booklets. The details regarding the
product, our business contact information, and the location of our plant are all included in our
brochure.

4.10.4 SIGNBOARD
We designed a signboard so that customers could learn more about our business and find out
where our company's headquarters are.

4.10.5 WEBSITE
To promote our product to customers, we developed our own website,
UncleZamCoffee.com.my. We include related information about our product on the website. This
website also includes information about company news and menu available.
4.10.6 BILLBOARD
Billboards enable our businesses to reach a wide range of customers with a single marketing
strategy. Rather than wasting time and money identifying and researching narrow target
customers, a billboard allows you to reach a huge portion of the general population.

4.10.7 BUSINESS CARD

Each partner will have his or her own set of business cards. Our business cards will be
distributed to our customers as well as visitors to our cafe. People will become aware of our
company's existence and product through these methods. As a result, the visitor can share
information about our product with others.

germs. Alongside the toilet, we provide handwashing facilities, such as sinks with running water.
