Practice 14: Read the passage. Decide if the statements are True or False and
choose the correct answer (A, B, C, or D) for the question
It might sound strange to you but these are some important rules. If you want to pass
examinations, then study grammar. However, if you want to become fluent in English,
try to learn English without studying too much grammar because that will only slow
you down and confuse you. You will think about the rules when creating sentences
instead of speaking naturally like a native speaker. Some native speakers do not know
as many grammar rules as non-native students do.
Everyone can speak at least one language whether they are intelligent, or lack some
brain power. This could be achieved by being surrounded by that language at all times.
You may notice that there are also some people who study abroad and learn very little.
That is because they go to an English speaking school, but find friends from their own
country and don't practice English. Some others can speak English well because they
live in an English speaking environment.
18
Therefore, why don't you surround yourself with English? Those who don’t speak,
write or understand English, they seem to be backward. Thus, this language has
become the language of human progress and prosperity.
(Học sinh viết đầy đủ TRUE hoặc FALSE)
21. You don't need to study too much grammar to be fluent in English.
22. You need to be quite intelligent to study a language well.
23. Living in an English speaking environment, people will learn the language better.

A. How to learn English grammar B. English - an unimportant subject
C. Some important rules in English D. How to become fluent in English
26. What do English learners need to speak English well?
A. English books B. English dictionaries
C. An English speaking environment D. English teachers
Read the passage. Decide if the statements are True or False (13-16) and choose
the correct answer (A, B, C, or D) for the question (17-18) (1.5 pts)
The Internet is a double-edged sword for children. It opens new worlds for the children.
They can learn a lot from searching the internet. However, the children need to
remember that there are dangers. One of these dangers is internet predators, who use
the internet to harm others. Some predators steal other people’s private information.
Some send unkind messages. Some try to meet their victims and try to force him or her
into guilty acts. Many predators find it easiest to persuade innocent children. They do not
usually recognize who they meet on the internet is a predator. There are many
organizations working to stop internet predators. Many governments are creating rules
for internet sites. However, internet safety really starts at home. Parents are the best
protections for children using the internet. If the children spend large amounts of time on
the internet alone at night, they may be the victims. If the parents find sensitive images
on computers, the children may be the victims. The children may have received those
images from a predator. If a child quickly turns off the computer or changes the image
when the parents enter the room, he or she may be the victim. Start to keep an eye on
children today!
