BUSINESS EVENT PROPOSAL

JOB SKILLS WORKSHOP: INTERVIEW SKILLS

1.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED EVENT

➢ NAME/PURPOSE
This paper aims to fulfill the assignment for the subject BB31203 – (SECTION 2) Business Project Proposal
Semester 2, 2022/2023. The workshop title is "Job skills workshop: Interview Skills". Workshops on
interviewing are an excellent approach for students to get ready for both academic and career interviews.
They frequently feature enjoyable presentations and provide opportunities for students to put what they have
learned into practice while teaching students priceless skills that they can use throughout their academic and
professional careers.

➢ WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

An interview skills training will be organized and presented for students at this Job Skills training: Interview
Skills event. It's a terrific way for students to discover the abilities they'll need to succeed in interviews at
academic institutions, upcoming internships, and jobs. Interviewing skills workshops aid students in
understanding and learning via practice, just like an essay workshop would. They will gain knowledge of what
is expected of them in professional contexts, how to answer queries, and how to provide and receive
feedback.

Other than that, others may merely need to polish their answers and work on their posture or gestures
during an interview, but some students may require a lot of practice to refine their speaking and
communication skills in a 1-on-1 professional context. No matter where each student is, interview skills
workshops can be helpful in a variety of ways by giving them the right environment and the feedback they
need to practice and improve their skills. They also help students get ready for future interviews of any kind.

➢ OBJECTIVE
i. Learn why major organizations search for traits and abilities that are present in all the positions they need
to fill.
ii. Discuss some helpful and unhelpful interview behaviors.
iii. Practice their interview behaviors and ability to describe useful skills and qualities in role-played and
observed mock interviews.
iv. Reflect on their performance and consider how they could improve.

MS 1/10
➢ IMPACTS

- Students can make job seekers more effective when interviewing for a new position.

- Students who know how to present themselves well during the entire interview
process can bump their application up above those who are unable to communicate
well or construct insightful, clear responses to any interview questions.

- Help each of the students improve their interview skills and achieve their goals by
offering interview skills.

2.0 PROJECT PLAN

This event is held to let the students know more about job skills workshops which are interview skills,
especially for finding a job in the future. Students from UMS are invited to come to this event. This event
target for 100-120 participants, especially students. We will invite two speakers to share their information and
experiences with the attendees.

It's crucial to remember that not everyone is born with interviewing skills. Some people come out as confident
and articulate right away, and they seem to have a natural talent for engaging in persuasive discourse and
interacting with strangers in a variety of contexts. Others could struggle to find their voice, feel frightened
during interviews, or simply lack the experience that would have allowed them to confidently prepare and
deliver their material. With little practice and direction, interviews may be learned and improved upon
regardless of a student's background or personality type.

♦ EVENT OVERVIEW
✓ Students will gain more knowledge about the job skills workshop: interview skills.
✓ Students get to know various tips from speakers that can use during interviews in the future.

♦ WHAT SHOULD BE COVERED IN AN INTERVIEW SKILLS WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS?

An interview workshop should cover both the "basics" and additional information that is helpful to the
particular student group. — for example, a group of pre-med students may require information that differs
from what a group of high school-aged students would require in their workshop!

General ‘basics’ that can be covered include:

(a) What to do to prepare for an interview ahead of time

(b) First impression and interview etiquette
(c) How to identify personal strengths and weaknesses
(d) How to answer questions well, and in a timely manner
(e) How to answer tough questions/what to do when stumped
(f) The importance of manners, hygiene, clothing, good body language, authenticity, and confidence

3.0 PROMOTION PLAN OF THE PROPOSED EVENT

Promotion Plan: We will use social media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook to promote the
seminar so that we can have many participants. This is very convenient for us, and the students could also
share it with their friends. Social media does not need any budget or fee.

PROMOTION PLAN DESCRIPTION

1. Social Media We will use social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and
Facebook to promote the event to the students and to manage the
registration of the students by using Google Forms. This is a way to save
money because it is a free-to-use platform and could save a lot of time.
Social media advertisements can reach broad audiences and build
interest within additional markets. Establish the workshop's target
audience, then place advertisements on common social media sites with
each demographic.
2. Banner As for the banner, we will hang it in front of the Dewan Kuliah
Prasiswazah (DKP), as the attraction for the student to participate in the
seminar. Only one banner will be used so that we can save space and
budget.
3. Flyers For flyers, we will print only 50 copies and distribute them to us students,
and we will paste them on the bulletin board in the DKP area.
4. Poster Create a poster/picture with a pre-announcement of this event and post it
on relevant social media platforms. The people who respond to this pre-
announcement might be the ones who are interested, or who are willing
to share the event later.
5. Enlist the help of It may be useful to have friends and family promote a workshop, too.
friends and family Consider acquaintances, family members, and friends who can share
members information about a workshop on their social media pages or
professional network. By doing this, we may reach a larger audience of
people.

connectivity traffic.

• Lack of engagement from the • Include interactive elements in the event such as

5.0 DESCRIBE ANY RISK

• Difficulty in getting the audiences.

The virtual talks that will be held have less participation and encouraging responses from the public due to a
lack of motivation to take part in the talk.

• Technical issues during the virtual event

Technical issues are one of the main risks associated with virtual events. This may involve difficulties
connecting to the internet, defects in software, and device failure. It will be challenging to conduct the talk
since the online meeting platform may lag and the audience may not be able to hear the speaker.

• Lack of engagement from participants

Virtual events may be less interesting than face-to-face events for attendees. Through the online program, the
participants are more likely to easily lose their focus and pay less attention to the talk and topic being
discussed.

MS 8/10
RISKS PLAN B

(BACKUP STRATEGIES)
• Difficulty to get audiences. 1. Offer incentives - Provide incentives for people to
attend the event, such as a discount on the products or
services, a free e-book, or a chance to win a prize.

2. Use paid advertising - Consider using paid advertising

on social media platforms or Google Ads to promote the
event to a wider audience.

• Technical issues occur. 1. Prepare the attendees - Provide attendees with clear
instructions on how to access the event and the technical
requirements needed to participate. Share troubleshooting
tips in case of technical issues and provide a support
contact for assistance.

2. Appoint a technical support team - Appoint a

dedicated team to manage technical issues during the
event. This team should be well-versed in technology and
have the necessary expertise to troubleshoot problems
quickly.
• Lack of engagement 1. Use multimedia content - Use multimedia content
such as videos, animations, and infographics to break up
the monotony of a presentation and keep the audience
engaged. Visual content can be used to explain complex
ideas or concepts, and it can also be more engaging than
text or audio alone.

2. Keep it concise - Keep the event concise and focused

to avoid losing the audience's attention. Break up long
presentations into shorter segments and take breaks to
give the audience a chance to rest and recharge.
