Purpose:
To provide a list of external parts that should accompany Titan™ 250 engines returned to Solar’s
overhaul facilities and describe Solar’s scope of supply for accomplishing engine exchange.

NOTE
Information contained in this service bulletin only pertains to Titan 250
engines. Refer to your maintenance manual and/or appropriate service
bulletin for other engines.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
When an engine is overhauled, some external engine components must be evaluated and
reconditioned or replaced, as appropriate. Failure to return these parts with the engine to the
overhaul center may result in delays and an increase in cost to the end user. Information
regarding what to return can be found in your maintenance manual and here in the Action
Required section.

ACTION REQUIRED:
Engines returned to an overhaul facility should include/exclude external components as described
in the following subsections.

External Engine Parts To Be Returned


• Air Inlet Screens (See Figure 1)
• On-Crank Water Wash Kit (See Figure 2)
• Air Inlet Plenum Bumper (See Figure 3)
• VGV1 Actuator Assembly (See Figure 4)
• IGV and VGV2 Actuators (See Figure 5) physically remove and ship alongside engine.
• Number 2/3 Bearing Oil Supply Tube (See Figure 6)
• 8th Stage Bleed Assembly (including all fittings) (See Figure 7)
• 11th Stage Bleed Ducting (including all fittings) (See Figure 8)
• Fuel Injectors (installed intact with all manifolds and pigtails) (See Figure 9)
• T5 Thermocouple Harness Assemblies and Thermocouples; P5 Sensor Assembly (See
Figure 10)
• T2 Thermocouple Harness Assemblies and Thermocouples (See Figure 11)
• Torch Igniter Assembly (fittings are considered loose items and should be kept at customer
site as spares) (See Figure 12)
• Bleed Valve Actuator and Adaptor, (green-colored piping to stay with package) (See Figure
13) physically remove and ship alongside engine.

• All Engine Magnetic Speed Pickups and RTD’s that are part of the engine (See Figure 14)
• All External Engine Insulation Blankets (See Figure 15)
• Front Mount, PT Trunion Mount, and Engine Key (keel Mount) (See Figure 16)
• Shipping Cart Wheel Locks (See Figure 17) physically remove and ship alongside
engine.

Parts Not To Be Returned

The following external parts must NOT be returned with the engine:
• External J-boxes
• Any Fittings that end in a package connection
• Exhaust Collector
• Bleed Valve Ducting Aft of Bleed Valve Actuator
• Starter Motor and Starter Motor Assembly
• Turning Gear (do return turning gear clutch set)
• Attached Lube Oil Pump
• Power Turbine Output Hub
• PT Buffer Air Assembly
• Accessory Gearbox Assembly - unless otherwise scheduled

NOTE
Starter motor clutch set, turning gear clutch set, splines always stay with
AGB. Pumps, motors, turning gear remain at customer site.

All necessary steps should be taken to protect the engine from additional
damage or contamination during transportation.

In the event a “Test as Received” is to be performed, the applicable


Overhaul Project Manager, or Product Support Manager, will assist the
district in identifying any additional steps and/or precautions to be taken
in preparation of the return of the engine.
