GENERAL INFORMATION:
When an engine is returned to a Solar’s overhaul facility, some external engine components must
be evaluated and then reconditioned or replaced, as appropriate. Failure to return these parts with
the engine to the overhaul center may result in delays and an increase in cost to the end user.
Information regarding what to return can be found in your maintenance manual and here in the
Action Required section.

• Air inlet screens
• Variable guide vane system cover
• Variable guide vane actuator assembly (connected by linkage to guide vane levers)
• Number 2/3 bearing inlet tube
• Number 2/3 bearing oil drain adapters
• Fuel injectors, installed intact with all manifolds and pigtails
• T5 thermocouple harness assemblies
• Torch assembly (mounted to the underside of the combustor section)

Parts Not To Be Returned
• The following external parts must NOT be returned with the engine:

the package to the engine (or vice versa) and having a fitting attached to the engine, the
line and fitting should not be returned with engine.
• Starter (including the motor, the adapter, and all clutch components (except when the
clutch is being replaced, in which case, all clutch components mounted on the gear box
and on the starter must be returned)).
• Oil pump
• Air inlet duct (inlet muff)
• Exhaust collector
• Interconnect drive shaft (shaft coupling)
• Bleed duct (flexible section)
• Split flange clamp segments and fasteners used on all oil and gas manifold connections

Engine Configuration
Configurations for engines to be returned to an overhaul facility are described as follows:

Figure 1 - General One-Shaft Engine Com ponent Identification (Item s in red are
am ong those not be returned. See appropriate subsections above for com plete
listings of w hat to return and w hat not to return.)

TAURUS 70 MODELS T9701, T10301 & T10801

A typical T10301S engine is shown in Figure 1 for reference and specific items to be returned with
the engine are identified. The variable vane cover frame must be removed to install the forward
portion of the engine lift tool, but should be returned with the engine. The bleed valve solenoid
can be disassembled from the actuator by removing the three Allen head cap screws on the face
of the solenoid.
