Strategies for Sustainable Organizational Development

5.1 Sustainable development
Nike is committed to achieving a number of sustainable goals by 2025. SDGs outline a
positive outlook for the future, but it requires deliberate action. Nike argues that
commitment to such goals to accelerate progress benefits businesses, governments, and
society alike. Nike currently scores 3/5 at the Sustainability Center. However, these
critical new ties will soon see an improvement in the rankings (Remake, 2021). Nike
has identified areas with the greatest potential for contributing to SDGs, including:

 Good Health and Wellbeing

Nike is committed to encouraging and helping communities around the world
move forward. For good reason, the potential consequences of exercise and
exercise nutrition in children are enormous. Active children are healthier,
happier, and their professionals and communities perform better on the pitch
and in the classroom, and eventually as adults.
 Gender Equality
One of the great features of the game is its power to unite people and motivate
them to play within their communities. In the aftermath of the COVID 19
disaster, the Nike, Inc brand breaks down barriers for all sportsmen and women
by building a content culture. Nike, Inc's goal is to achieve 100% equal pay
fairness across all employee levels on an annual basis by 2025 ( Thomas, 2021).
 Decent Work and Economic Growth
Nike is committed to working only with factories that share their vision for
better jobs and economic growth, from employee compensation to workplace
conditions.
 Responsible Consumption and Production
Nike, Inc is committed to sustainability, ensuring that all athletes can train, live
and thrive for future generations. Despite the COVID 19 disaster, this
responsibility led Nike to develop new products and innovative materials.
 Climate Action
As Nike strives to create products with all performance and low environmental
impact, the brand takes a stand for climate action through its Move to Zero
commitment. As the name implies, this is Nike's promise for a zero-carbon,
zero-waste future.
 Partnerships for the Goals
Nike recognizes that cooperation is essential for real goals in a sustainable
future and a healthy world. Nike has developed an understanding of the
challenges and opportunities facing the sports brand in partnership with
competitors, governments, academics, NGOs, and other industries in the face of
COVID 19 (Nike, 2022).
5.2 Strategies for Sustainable Development
Nike's stakeholders include all environmental, social, and economic factors as strategies
that can influence sustainable development. Nike, Inc uses the following strategies to
achieve its sustainable growth in the face of the COVID 19 epidemic. In applying these
strategies for sustainable development, the team-based organizational structure
identified as the new organizational structure must be addressed.

 Improve the green production

Nike.Inc employs a variety of environmentally friendly materials, such as organic
and recycled cotton and polyester, and their supply chain includes water supply
projects. (Nike news, 2022).
 Better working environments
Outside-the-office team building, regular casual meetings, and other activities that
workers gain away from their desks and chat to each other virtually may establish
relationships that make the workplace a nicer atmosphere and lead to improved
cooperation and employment advantages, as shown at Nike, Inc.

 No-blame culture
Nike provides an accountability culture in an organization that does not target the
actions of an individual, whether it is a project failure, harassment allegations, or
group performance.

 Managing work-life balance

During the COVID-19 emergency, many people around the world were forced to
work remotely, but Nike, Inc observed certain expectations about the ability to work
from home as a positive factor in promoting work-life balance within a team-based
organizational structure (Maxwell, 2008).
