ACTIVITY 3 (WEEK 1)
ACTIVITY 3

I. CASE STUDY

PROBLEM # 1. You noticed that your friend is sad and gloomy. You find it odd because she is
the most intelligent in your batch, the president of your class, and is a captain of the school’s
volleyball team. You approached her and asked what seems to be her problem. She confided to
you that a week ago her father got very sick and may not be able to provide for the needs of the
family. Also her prospects on pursuing a college degree is dim since her mother hinted that she
will need to find work and help her younger siblings finish their studies. Based on our lesson on
human intellect and free will , what advice can you give? Write in your answer sheets at least 5
possible solutions.

1. Prioritize your younger siblings’s studies

2. Aid and care for your ill father in hopes of him getting healthy again
3. Prioritize yourself and try to push through finishing college to help financially
4. Find some side income that can help your family
5. Be a working student in hopes of providing for your family while at the same time finishing
your academics.

II. Values Integration:

How can you show appreciation to your parents who carry the immense responsibility of
making decisions for the benefit of the family?

- I would give them words of affirmation that their sacrifices and efforts are noticed by me and
my siblings, and by giving my best efforts into my academics in order to financially help in
the future to pay them back for the decisions they made for the benefit of our family.

III. Reflection

1. It is important to consider the consequences before we act on decisions because

the actions may have very significant results that may be counterproductive to our
objectives we desire to achieve.
2. I believe people are challenged in the topic of true freedom because many people are
still finding for themselves what true freedom really is for them, because ultimately,
freedom is a concept which may differ by person.
3. Yes. Because I believe that for as long as we can breathe, everyday we wake up is an
opportunity to become better. As long as we can get up and wake up every morning,
hope is not lost in doing and achieving our desires in life.
