GROUP ASSIGNMENT II (CASE STUDY PROJECT 15%)

CLO3: Evaluate relevant telecommunication scenarios through case study to address global impact and
professional engineering issues.
PLO9: Ability to analyse the impact of global and contemporary issues, the role of engineers in society,
including, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to
professional engineering.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Conduct a service-learning project on selected communication principles topic:

• In a group of maximum four students.
• Choose one of two missions (Mission 3 or Mission 4) of the Ericsson Educate Tech Traveler game.
• See https://educate.ericsson.net/ett/
• Mission 3 covers the Pulse Modulation and Multiplexing topics, while Mission 4 covers the Amplitude
Modulation, Angle Modulation, Radio Digital Modulation topics.
• Students are expected to educate the public via video presentation/lecture/animation on the topics
covered by the selected game mission and assess the public understanding of the topic. Students are
to guide the public if they faced difficulties in finishing the game mission.
• Gather feedback (via questionnaire) from the public on their experience in learning from the video and
finishing the game mission and prepare a report to summarize the findings.
• At least 12 adult respondents are required for each group, respondents must not have taken the
SKEE3533 course.

Service-Learning Flow
1. Public respondents complete Part A of the questionnaire.
2. Public respondents watch the video presentation.
3. Public respondents play and complete the selected game mission.
4. Public respondents complete Part B of the questionnaire.

Video
• Must be precise (around 5-15 minutes maximum duration)
• Contain necessary information and knowledge on the topic for the public to complete the game mission,
e.g., Mission 3 needs knowledge on Pulse Modulation and Multiplexing, while Mission 4 needs
Amplitude Modulation, Angle Modulation and Radio Digital Modulation.
• Highlight any recent advancement related to the topic in the communication fields, with impact and
benefit to the society. Identify, analyse, or resolve any misconceptions on the topic in terms of health,
safety, legal or cultural issues.
• Unless properly cited, video must contain only original figures, clips, motions and texts.
• Do not put any walkthrough, tutorial, guide or snapshot of the game to directly assist the public
complete the game.

Report
• Report must contain introduction, questionnaire result analysis, reflection, conclusion, and references.
• You may refer to textbook and/or other sources for guidance to complement your report, provided
proper citation is given in the text.
• Unless properly cited, report must contain only original figures and texts (write in your own words).
• Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
• Attach all the filled questionnaires from the respondents in the appendix.
• Maximum 10 pages (not including appendix).
• Submit the rubric form as well.

Video and Report is due on 22/1/2022, submission through e-learning site.
