(1) General.
Placing topsoil to landscape berm will commence upon completion of berm core
construction ive, subsoil drains laid.
The placing operation will be carried out in section by section, mostly be 100m
approximately for each section, to cope with the proceeding of associated
activities such as benching forming and subsoil drain laying.
'As the topsoil placing extent is divided into Zone 1 and Zone 2, with difference
requirement on relative compaction, the placing work will be carried out in 2
stages as described below.
(2) Details Procedure
‘Stage 1 Placing Works
2.1. Placing topsoil will be proceeded in layer by layer, with compacted
thickness of each layer be 500mm approximately.
Placing topsoil will be started at the bottom i. toe of completed berm core.
Once topsoil placing proceed to existing ground level, a temporary ramp
will be built beside the berm core as access to higher level.
24 This access ramp will be extended in length and raised in level together
with each lift of the topsoil placing work.
2.5 Topsoil materials for each layer will be deposited in position by end-tipping.
2.6 Topsoil materials will be spread by dozer and compacted vibratory roller for
each layer. An overfilling distance of approximate Im at each layer of
filling will be carried out.
2.7 Activities as described in above items 2.4 to 2.7 will be repeated until the
topsoil reaches the highest top level of Zone 2 of each section.
‘Stage 2 Placing Works
2.8 Topsoil materials for Zone 1 will be deposited by end-tipping and spread by
dozer in layers, with thickness of each layer be approximate 1m.
2.9 No compaction by vibratory roller will be carried out in this stage.
2.10 Upon completion of deposition and spreading of topsoil materials to the
final level i.e. top level of landscape berm, trimming the topsoil placed to
design profile will be carried out for the whole landscape berm, with
backhoe being positioned at top and/or the bottom (depending on the height
of landscape berm),2.11 A checking on the relative compaction will be carried out for Zone 1
placing work immediately after completion of item 2.10.
2.12 Should the relative compaction be found higher than the requirement, a
backhoe will be used to loose the topsoil by raking.
2.13 The raking operation will be proceeded in a one direction and no-retumn
manner,
2.14 Final checking to relative compaction of raked topsoil will then be carried
out to ensure its compliance before hydrosceding
