Allowance to be made such that there is 250mm space between the rootball edge to the sides and 300mm to the bottom of the rootball box. This space to be filled with topsoil mix, Trench size shall be 300mm wide and 1000mm deep. The excavated trench to be backfilled with moist peat. ‘The time table for transplanting works to be as directed by the Engineer. The duration of the transplanting works shall be around 3 months. Root cutting to be done in three stages. Each root cutting stage to be performed at least one month after the previous root pruning unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. (@ The first stage shall involve cutting parallel straight trenches on two opposite sides of the proposed rootball. (b) The second stage involves cutting trenches on the remaining two sides of the proposed rootball (c) The last stage is the cutting of the underside of the rootball and the transplanting of the tree to the rootball box. Root activator to be applied at regular intervals according to the manufacturer's recommendation. Before the uplifting of the transplanting trees, the planting pits (1000mm diameter & 800mm deep) will be prepared so as to enable the transplanting trees direct to the areas of the final planting locations. . Uplifting and transplanting will be carried out following a thorough watering of the plants. 10) M1) 12) 13) 14) Plants to be lifted carefully to avoid damage to roots and to obtain the specified size of rootball. All roots thicker than 0mm diameter to be treated with an approved sealant. All plants shall be wrapped and protected to prevent mechanical damage during lifting and transportation, The rootball to be wrapped with damp hessian and kept moist from the time of lifting until it is transplanted, Plants transplanted direct to the prepared areas of planting are to be planted in certain spacing as directed by the Engineer. After the tree has been placed in its final location, backfilled with soil mix and slow release fertilizer. The backfilling procedure to be camied out in accordance with PS, Section 3, Clause 3.55 (13)-(20). Immediately following planting, the plants to be watered thoroughily to ensure a thorough soaking of the roots. Tree staking to be carried out in accordance with the contract drawings.
