Structure of Yam O Irrigation Pumping Station 1. Scope of Works Under the scope of the works on the Contract, Yam © Irrigation Pumping Station shall be constructed. Open cut excavation method will be adopted for the construction of the footing. This method statement will focus on the followings: 1) _ Excavation to the Base Level of Formation 2) Construction of Footing 3) — Construction of the Framing of R.C. Structure 4) Backfilling to the ground surface level 2. Sequence of Works 21 The area will be excavated down to formation level provided by the Engineer using open cut method before the construction of the concrete footing : 2.1.1 Set out the layout plan according to the sketch no, $A/033/A for the irrigation pumping station. 2.1.2. The excavated material will be delivered to designated stockpile area by dump truck. 2.1.3. Slope will be formed at a design safety angle of 40 °. ICE Certificate was submitted on 8 Jan 2002. (Cert. No. ICE/02/0101D) 2.1.4 Access to site refers sketch no. SA/033/A. Construction of concrete footing, 2.2.1. Trim the ground to the required surface level by small backhoe. 2.2.2 Compact the earth soil by vibrating roller or plate.China State Construction & Engineering Corporation Contract No. CV/2000/09 MS for R.C. Structure of Yam O Irrigation Pumping Station 2.23 2.2.9 2.2.10 2.2.16 Set out pegs evenly on the soil for the level of the blinding layer and cast approx. 75mm thick concrete until it levels off the pre-set peg level. Set out the framing layout structure of the concrete footing Erect one side of the formwork for the control of the rebar cover accuracy. Mould release agent will be applied on the inner surface of formwork. (See Appendix III) The temporary work design (Falsework and Formwork) will be submitted separately. Reinforcement will be handled by crane lorry to the construction area and fix by steel fixer. All reinforcement shall be fixed as per working drawing and relevant bar bending schedule and cutting lists. The bar bending schedule will be submitted separately. Concrete spacer will be tied to the reinforcement evenly to provide enough cover as specified to the casting concrete. Sacrificial reinforcement, in the form of support U-bars, may be used to ‘maintain uniformity of the top steel ‘The remaining side of the formwork will be erected after all cast-in item had been fixed. All cast-in items for E&M installation etc. will be submitted separately, Construction joint location refers to sketch no. SA/034/ 100mm(H) kicker will be provided for concrete wall and columns. Concrete will be delivered by truck mixer from the mixing plant and discharged into a concrete skip for pouring concrete by lifting crane. Structure of Yam O Irrigation Pumping Station the construction joint (CJ) or designated level is reached. 2.2.17 The concrete will then be covered by a polythene sheet during the period of setting. 2.2.18 After the required strength of concrete had been achieved, normally one day after, the formwork will then be strike down and removed. 2.2.19 The construction joints will then be formed and roughened by scrabbling tools for the construction of the upper structure. 2.2.20 The concrete pour sequence is shown on Sketch No. SA/035/A. Backfilling of Footing 2.3.1. Suitable fill material will be backfilled to the excavated area in 300mm layer by layer to fill the void found under the formation. 2.3.2 Vibrating roller shall be compacted in each layer of the filled material. 2.3.3. Repeat step 2.3.1 to 2.3.2 until the filling reaches the designated level 2.3.4 Compaction test shall be carried out if required. Construction of framing of R.C, Structure 2.4.1 Set out the framing alignment of the wall and adjust the starter-bar in accurate cover position. 2.4.2 All formwork will be erected one side only. Mould release agent (see Appendix II]) will be applied on the inner surface of formwork. 2.4.3. Concrete will be delivered by truck mixer from the mixing plant and discharged into concrete skip for pouring concrete by lifting crane. The concrete will then be covered by a polythene sheet during the period of setting, After the required strength of concrete had been achieved, the formwork will then be strike down and removed after the minimum time for removing formwork had been elapsed, (Refer to GS: Clause 14.35 and Table 14.6) ‘The construction joints will be formed and roughened by scabling tools or green cut method, Repeat step 2.4.1 to 2.4.12 for the roof structure Concrete will be poured layer by layer with compaction by vibrating poker to the top slab level of the roof. Hand tools shall be applied for making concrete surface to the required finished schedule after the concrete pouring to the roof structure had been completed. Strike down and remove the formwork of the roof slab after the minimum time for removing formwork had been elapsed. Suitable fill material will be backfilled to the excavated trench area in 300mm layer by layer to fill up the ground below the ground level. 2.5.2 Vibrating roller shall be compacted in each layer of the filled material, 2.5.3 Compaction test shall be carried out if required.
