ACTIVITY DESIGN
I – GENERAL INFORMATION
TITLE: ELLN DISTRICT WIDE LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC).

DATE: March 14 , 2020 – June 30, 2022.

VENUE: Selected Schools of Babak District with Strong Internet Connection
PARTICIPANTS: K-3 Teachers, Elementary Master Teachers, School Heads

II- RATIONALE
Pursuant to DepEd Order No..35 , s.2016 entitled “ the Learning Action Cell ( LAC ) and
in line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 1O533 or the Enhanced Basic Education
Act of 2O13 , the k to 3 teachers of Babak Ditrict will conduct the Districtwide Learning Action
Cell (LAC ) as a K to 12 Basic Education Program School – Based Continuing Professional
Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.
The Department of Education recognizes that the quality of learning is greatly influenced
by the quality of teaching. Therefore, it is imperative for the DepEd to hire good teachers and to
support their development in the teaching profession. Organizing professional learning
communities will aid teachers in the construction of new knowledge about instruction as well as in
revising traditional beliefs and assumptions about education, community, teaching, and learning
(Little 2003) to suit the present needs of learners.
III- OBJECTIVES
o To provide continuing professional develpoment of the teaching personnel based on the
principle of lifelong learning and the renewed commitment to the development of their
potential and help improve teaching practice and learning outcome.
o To nurture successful teachers;
o To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes; and
o To foster a professional collaborative spirit among school heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole.
IV- METHODOLOGY
The training will use the blended modality where teachers will be given the digital
courseware that they could study ahead of time before the scheduled LAC session. Using the
digital courseware teachers will be learning on their own pace and at their own preference of time.
The ELLN Digital course is expected to run for a total of 16 weeks, provided that the LACs
meet at least once a week. ELLN Digital LACs, the LAC members include all of the Kindergarten
to Grade 3 teachers who are participating in the ELLN Digital course. To make the LACs
manageable, it is recommended that each LAC have 5-15 members only. If there are more than 15
K-3 teachers in the school, then the LAC head can split the group into 2 or more LACs.
 Each ELLN Digital LAC session consists of four components or segments: (1)getting
started , (2)sharing of assignments,(3) big-group discussion and (4)looking forward to the next
session.
Before the conduct of ELLN Digital LAC Session, a School Readiness Assessment shall
be done.

VI- FUND SOURCE

The expenses of this activity shall be chargeable against MOOE/Local Funds.

VII- SOCIO-ECONOMIC JUSTIFICATION

The District wide Learning Action Cells (LAC) will serve as a venue for a sustainable and
cost-effective professional development system for teachers.

VIII- SUSTAINABILITY
Through this program, K-3 teachers will enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitudes on
basic pedagogy in early literacy thus, improving their classroom teaching. They will enrich their
ability to assess learners’ literacy and numeracy skills.

will happen every second and last Friday of the month (3:30 PM- 4:30 PM) starting
November 22 , 2019 until February 28 , 2O20.

of the said activity.
