IV.PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous ELICIT
lesson or presenting Climate of the Philippines.
the new lesson Ask the learner if what was the last discussion in Science. After reviewing
the past lesson.

Who among you asking why does we experiencing the different season the
country. Why does the other country facing winter, summer, autumn, and spring.
B. Establishing a purpose ENGAGE
for the lesson Form a group. The teacher will distribute different letters to each group. Your task is to
form the words regarding the planet Earth. Then, paste these words on the board.

Rotation and Revolution.

C. Presenting Day and night. Ask the learner. Why we are experiencing Day and night? did you know
examples/instances of why?
the new lesson
Discussing new concepts and EXPLORE
practicing new skills #1 Close the doors, curtains and turn of the lights inside the classroom. Turn on your
lamp/ flashlight. This will serve as the sun. position of the globe about 1 meter
away from the lamp/ flashlight. Then, spin the globe in a counterclockwise
direction. Observe the globe from all sides.

D. Discussing new
concepts and Effect of Earth rotation: Day and night
practicing new skills
#2 The sun is the closest star to Earth. The sun seems to rise in the east and sets in
the west. The apparent movement of the sun is due to the direction of the earth’s
rotation. The rotation of the Earth causes Day and Night.

E. Developing Mastery EXPLAIN

leading to Formative Movement of the earth
Assessment Rotation – everyday, the sun appears to rise in the east, travel across the sky and set in
the west. You can observe this day out. But the sun does not move from east to west.
Instead, the Earth is spinning on its own axis at a regular and steady rate every 24 hours.
The movement of the Earths on its axis is called rotation.
Revolution- the Earths rotate as it travels around the sun in space. The movement of the
earth around the sun is called revolution. The earth revolves around the sun in a
counterclockwise direction. It takes the Earth a year or 365/1/4 days to revolve around the
sun.

F. Finding ELABORATE
practical/applications The calendar we presently use, the Gregorian calendar, only uses 365 days. So to
of concepts and skills compensate the excess time and to keep the calendar in sync with the revolution of the
earth, a leap year is used every four years. A leap year adds one day to the end of
in daily living
February.

The effect of earths revolution : four season

G. Making
It takes 365/1/4 days for Earth to complete one revolution around the sun. This period
generalizations and
defines a year. In some countries, this movement of the earths causes the four season –
abstractions about summer, autumn winter, and spring. Why there are four seasons throughout the year
the lesson because of the Earth’s revolution and tilt of its axis.

4. How many days does the earth take to complete its revolution ?

5. When will be the next leap year if the year is 2016 is a leap year ?
a. 2017 b. 2018 c. 2019 d. 2020
