CERTIFICATE IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAM OF THE PHILIPPINE

NORMAL UNIVERSITY (PNU)

In response to the need of the Department of Education’s K to 12 Curriculum

for competent teachers who shall handle the universal kindergarten classes, the
Philippine Normal University (PNU) offers the Certificate in Preschool Education
Program, an 18-Unit Post-Baccalaureate Program on May 15-29, 2013 at the PNU
campuses in Cadiz City and Lopez Quezon.

The Program aims to equip the teachers with a specialized content knowledge
and skills in teaching children who are five-year old and below. Specifically, it aims to:

1. promote a flexible and adaptive workforce that will meet the growing
needs of early childhood education and the changes arising from the
transition to sustainable society;
2. respond to the clamor of kindergarten teachers to help them become
qualified in handling young children; and
3. engage them on monitoring, evaluation and research in collaboration
with the local school officials.

This is intended for teachers with bachelor’s degree or graduates of certificate in

teaching.
