HOW SOUTH AFRICAN EDITORIAL CARTOONISTS DESCRIBE HOW

DANGEROUS THE CORONA VIRUS (COVID19) IS.

Due to Covid19 pandemic in 2019, some South African Editorial Cartoonist portrayed the
Corona Virus effects and the situation in this past few months. They show it by making some
cartoons about Covid19 and releasing them in newspapers and in the other articles so that people
in South African would know what it caused and its effects on their society. They described in
their cartoons what the corona virus looks like, where it came from or started, and they give
meaning to the other cartoons they make about the situation in their country.
Nowadays not only does South Africa suffer from Covid19, but also every country in the
world suffers from Covid19 . The corona virus or better known as Covid19 is a dangerous virus
that can quickly infect humans, so many people in every country in the world with covid19.
Almost everyone in the world nowadays has covid19 that has not healed caused by their weak
body. Nowadays almost all countries in the world have a vaccine for covid19 injected into
people in their respective countries, thanks to countries with high-tech technologies and talented
specialists who have discovered the vaccine for corona virus. Due to the discovery of the vaccine
for the corona virus they have made many vaccines to sell and contribute to different countries in
the world. Almost every country in the world today has received vaccines and injected them into
people, and most of them have been cured of the virus. The number of people with covid19 is
gradually decreasing in every country in the world, and other countries in the world have become
covid free.

In this cartoon was portrayed the doctor while pushing upward the big Corona Virus Cell.
They also draw some big rocks was labeled by poverty, apartheid geography, inequality,
apartheid- style lockdown, hunger, and unemployment. Those big rocks with labeled was falling
downward into a mountain while the doctor was pushing upward the big Corona Virus Cell from
the bottom of the mountain. This cartoon picture has a meaning, what do you think the message
of the cartoon picture?
In this picture shows how all the doctors work to solve covid19, the doctors work hard to
cure people with covid19. Caused by what is happening to people and society such as
unemployment, poverty, inequality, hunger, and other social and human problems are causing
the slow resolution of covid19 in a country. Due to the problems of a society, people cannot be
prevented from leaving home to find supplies for their daily needs, so health protocols are not
followed and the number of covid19 virus infections is increasing. Not only are doctors tackling
covid19, but also the government is doing everything to reduce the number of people with
covid19 and keep people safe against this virus and to end this pandemic.
This cartoon has had a good effect on us because through it we know the situation of people
at high levels in the country how they are struggling just to beat the covid19 virus. Especially to
our brave doctors who care for and help people with covid19 virus. Although there are many
obstacles to reducing covid19 cases in a country but we need to work together to overcome this
pandemic, if we work together and follow the rules given to us by the frontliners we will be able
to speed up the reduction of those infected with covid19. We as citizens of a country if we want
to help the frontliners we need to be obedient to health protocols and be responsible for ourselves
as well as our health, we must avoid leaving the house if it is not important to not catch the virus
in outside, if you go out of the house keep wearing a facemask, faceshield, and observe the social
distancing.
Making cartoons or pictures is not bad if its message is good. By making such pictures it
helps us to know what is going on in our society as we know the spread of covid19 and other
problems we are experiencing. Nowadays the increasing number of people getting covid19 in the
world is a huge problem we need to be careful of. What we are experiencing should be a lesson
for us to be more careful and more obedient to government officials for the safety of all of us.
