ACCOMPLISHMENT
Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. The
Alternative Learning System in the Philippines provides a practical option to
the existing formal instruction when one does not have or cannot access

REPORT
formal education in schools. With this, the Bunawan District addressed the
needs of the basic education for Out of School Youth and Out-of-School
Adults in this municipality particularly in far flung barangays, to raise the
level of literacy in the target areas and improve the quality of life of
individuals

and families in remote and underserved barangays.

Advocacy is one of the best practices in this District

which contribute much of the implementation of the
programs WEST BUNAWAN CENTRAL
and projects of the ALS through attending barangay
sessions, conducting orientations, close coordination with our
Local ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Government Units, Non-Government Organizations
and other Stakeholder who have
showed untiring support of the ALS programs. We also continue
to lobby more appropriations for the programs both NGO and
LGU so that we could bring functionally literacy to the
farthest and innermost corners of this municipality.

Last August 2023, the ALS Teachers of Bunawan

District started the Literacy Mapping at Barangay
Poblacion, Nueva Era, Consuelo, and Mambalili. The purpose
in conducting a literacy mapping is to be able to identify the
Out-of-School Children (OSC), Out-of-School Youth (OSY), and Out-of-School Adult (OSA) in
the different barangays of Bunawan. The total number of prospect learners for Basic
Literacy Program, Elementary and Secondary is 196, 87 are male while 108 are female.
Through the help of Barangay Officials, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Purok Officials,
and Community leaders, the literacy mapping was successfully done.
