Activity: Pass and Read the C-V-C

Materials Needed:
10 Flashcards of C-V-C Word patterns with pictures
Skills Focused: Sound recognition in C-V-C pattern.
Reading Lesson: Telling Sounds and Reading Words in C-V-C pattern
Mechanics:
1. Show flashcards with Word in the C-V-C pattern*. Teach the pupils to say the sound of each letter
and put them together. (Read it doing The Me-You-Us (teacher-pupil-together) strategy in reading.
2. Call each pupil to read the C-V-C word. Then by pairs until they had mastered reading the C-V-C.
3. Let the pupil form a circle. This time pass one card to them until each child has read it by passing it
to the next pupil in the circle.
4. Repeat step 3 for each card passing it to pupils one by one.
5. Make sure that you monitor if each pupil says the sounds and reads the word correctly.
6. Gave stars to pupils that could read at least 6 and up correctly and encourage everyone to do it better
next time.
*Use letter sounds that you have already taught or known by pupils.
