Auto assigns tools to the part


There are two ways to assign. One is to entire part and the other one is to
only holes.
3.1.1 Parts
[Assign Tools]-[Auto Assign]-[Auto Entire Part]
Automatically allocate the tool path to all the components including
perimeter cut and holes.

Operation 1. Click [Assign Tools], [Auto Assign], and [Auto Entire Part].
● When “Display Auto Tool Assignment Option” on Auto Assignment setting
is checked, option setting of auto assignment will appear. Assignment will

not be performed when “Cancel” button is selected on setting.
● When “Display’Confirm Auto Tool Assignment” on Auto Assignment setting
is checked, the dialog box with result of auto assignment will appear. It
will show number of entities for each standard holes, special shape and
outer shape that was not assigned.
● Non-assigned entities will be displayed in blue.
● The assigned tool path is displayed as a yellow line
● To search from inventory, check “Search Available Tooling when Layout
Single Hit Hole”.

Automatically assign the tooling to holes of a part. It assigns single hits


and cutout.

Operation 1. Click [Assign Tools], [Auto Assign], and [Auto Holes].


● When “Display Auto Tool Assignment Option” on Auto Assignment setting
is checked, option setting of auto assignment will appear. Assignment will

not be performed when “Cancel” button is selected on setting.
● The tools assigned are displayed in yellow
● To search tools from inventory, check “Search Available Tooling when
Layout Single Hit Hole”.

3.2 Setting of Auto Assignment

(such as a notch and hole).

3.2.1 Setup Auto Assignment Setting


[Assign Tools]-[Auto Assign]-[Condition Setup]
Specify the settings for auto assignment of each shape (such as notches
and holes).
Operation 1. Click [Assign Tools], [Auto Assign], and [Condition Setup].
2. If necessary, change the condition setting file to be used.
● The condition setup file handles all sheets in the [Condition Setup] dialog box,
as a single file. To change the condition setup file to be applied, click the

[Load] button and then select a condition setup file (.cjf) from the displayed
dialog box.

3. Set each item of the [Auto-Punch] sheet and then click the [OK]
button.
● Clicking the [OK] button overwrites and saves the setting values in

cam_defaut.cjf.
● To save setting values as a new condition setup file, click the [Save as] button.
In the displayed dialog box, specify the save destination (optional) and file
name (.cjf), then save the values.

Outer Shape
! Method:
Select the process method for outer shape (Perimeter cutting).
Click the button and then select method.
For sheet processing, you cannot select a sketch.

←No assign

←Assign sharproof to entire perimiter.

←Change sheet size to part size and assign only cutout and
notches.
←Uses sheet size set on Process Setup and Assign tools to
punch out all remaining area.
← Use sheet size set on Process Setup and Assign tools to
cutout only.

! Do not assign if the line is less then 1.5 of the punch length:
When it is checked, tool will NOT be assigned to the length that is
less than 1.5 times of the tool length for sharp roof (G66).
! Notch:
It will be activated when process other than No-Assign and sharp
roof are selected.
Select the notch and corner process method for each shape (V
notch, U notch, square notch, corner C, corner L, and corner R).
Click each button and then select the method.

# Hole
! Special shape hole, round hole, square hole, OB, and RR: 3

method.
! Direction:
Select the direction for allocating unusable area leaving to a hole.
! Use +/- Punch Range
When it is checked, it will give range to find single hit tools. Also,
you can select [+ Priority] or [- Priority] to set priority to the larger
size than the hole size or smaller than the hole size to search tool.
! Use +/- Clearance Range
When it is checked, it will give range for clearance. It requires die
clearance set in Punch Master Manager and clearance for material.
It will use clearance set for material and find tool within range
based on priority setting.
! Search Available tool when Layout Single Hit Hole:
When it is checked, Auto assign will look for single hit tool in
inventory if tool was not found in the turret.
! Search condition:
Set Key word to find tool from inventory. The keyword is valid
only when the first check box is selected. When multiple keywords
are specified, the tools that contain the specified keywords in the
tool comment are automatically allocated. It can be used for
separating Thin/Thick turret, tools that is provided from customer,
etc.

# LIBRA trimming condition
Displayed when the LIBRA is selected.

! Clamp-side allocable range:

When the maximum Y-axis coordinates in the lower (clamp side)


area is equal to or less than an input value for the trimming process,
perform allocation to this area.
! Perform the trimming process:
When the sketch process is selected for the outer shape allocation
method, select whether to perform automatic trimming process.
# Auto process with selected tool
When it is checked, perimeter cutting will be done by only tool
currently selected.(It is valid for only RE,SQ and RO tool.)
# Display ‘Confirm Auto Tool Assignment Dialog Box
When it is checked, “Confirm Auto Tool Assignment” dialog box will
be displayed after auto assignment. The dialog box will show number
of geometry assigned and unassigned for each standard shaped hole,
special shaped hole, and outer shape.
# Display Auto Tool Assignment Option
When it is checked, Auto tool assignment option will be displayed
when auto assign is selected.

Operation 1. Click [File] and [Condition Setup].
2. If necessary, modify the condition setup file to be used.
● The condition setup file handles all sheets in the [Condition Setup] dialog box
as a single file. To change the condition setup file to be used, click the [Load]

button and then select a condition setup file (.cjf) in the displayed dialog box.

3. Setup each item in the [Punching] , and click [OK].


● Clicking the [OK] button overwrites and saves the setting values in
cam_defaut.cjf.

# Starting/Ending Point Overlap Amount LF/LB


Default value of overlap amount. (Tool assigned beyond edge of the
line).
# Punch Tooling Layout
Default value for maximum/minimum value for single tool assignment.
Valid for auto assignment, line assignment and two-point.
# Notch Overlap Amount
Default overlap amount for notches.
# Joint
Default value for micro joint (corner tab) and wire joint (wire tab).
When [Register to Material Manager] is selected, the value will be
saved for the material.
# Select RO Tooling Pitch
Default nibbling pitch. When [Nibbling] is selected, nibbling pitch will
be used for tool pitch. When [Use Scallop height] is selected, tool
pitch will be calculated based on scallop height and tool size.

# G68/G69 or G78/G79
– G68/G69 (Nibbling):
Uses G68/G69 for nibbling. Uses G78/G79 if the pitch exceeds the

– G78/G79 (Punching):
Uses G78/G79 for nibbling.
– Delay the punch:
When it is checked, M08/09 will be added to tool hits. This item
must be selected for the thick plate process and forming process. If
using a tool registered as "S" (forming), the punch delay process
will be automatically set. Selecting this item force nibbling to use
"G78/G79 (punching)."
# Max Distance of Tool beyond the Sheet
Specify the limit width for tool center beyond the sheet
Over-travel check will be done based on this value.
– OK (Warning output)
Work size < tool center work size + work allowance width
– NG (Error output)
Work size + work allowance width tool center
# C axis not used
Displayed only for PDC/PDCII.
Specify whether to automatically change a tool that has “AI” assigned
to [Not set] if the tool is used for only 0 degree. It will be referred
when creating turret automatically.
